About Me

Rockabilly Legend, Jackie Lee "Waukeen" Cochran was born in Dalton, Georgia and raised up in many parts of the american south - Louisiana, Missisippi & Alabama. He was signed to his first recording contract in 1956 by Sims records and recorded the single Hip Shakin Mama / Riverside Jump. Then in 1957 he recorded for Decca records: Ruby Pearl / Mama Don't You Think I Know. In 1958 Viv records released I Want You / Buy A Car. He frequently appeard on the Big D Jamboree and the Louisiana Hayride. In those days he toured extensively, and his wild stage show featured a giant black cat with flashing red eyes. In 1960 Jackie Lee was featured in the movie Let's Make Love starring Marilyn Monroe. In The mid 70's Jack was "re-discovered" by Ronny Weiser of Rollin' Rock Records and recorded the great albums "Swamp Fox" , "Rockabilly Legend" and "Lonesome Drifter". You also might like to check out a CD called "Jackie Lee Cochran with Johnny and the Roccos-The 1985 Sessions" Jack made several tours to Europe with acts from Rollin' Rock and played many lengthy engagements at clubs around Los Angeles. Jack Cochran, Or you might call him "Waukeen", "The Swamp Fox" or "Jack The Cat" was a real southern gentleman and was loved by all who knew him... He passed on in 1998 but, he will never be forgotten......--------...... Member of the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame. I found this layout design on PureLayouts.com - check out their MySpace Layouts .
