ROCK AND ROLL ART TO WEAR. Owl combines inspiration from music, nature, mysticism, cultural studies, and green design in order to create a completely unique line of Art-to-Wear artisan apparel and designer denim. By rendering intricate motifs in reclaimed fabrics, OWL recycles discarded textiles, giving new life to what seems to be a spent resource. A myriad of hand-picked and cut fabrics in rich colors become unique surface treatments and give jeans and overalls a proverbial kick-in-the-ass. These pieces have a history, a textured past that tells a story... I was born in Camden, New Jersey, 1973. Tony Iommi and I share the same birthday. I had an "over the edge" 70's childhood, in a part of Jersey that is a lot like the south yet 5 miles above the Mason-Dixon line. I grew up amidst rockers, hippies, bikers, and burn-outs. My grandmama's began teaching me to sew when I was about 5. I went to an art highschool in Phila., painting school in NYC, and earned a BS in Apparel Design in Portland, OR. The Gear: 1958-ish Singer Spartan 192K, 1915-1920? Singer Redeye, Janome MyLock 204D, Riccar RD-101, 1927-ish Singer Industrial Treddle, and a Ellure Babylock ESL. MADE IN THE USA/ All Fabrics Reclaimed, Recycled, Second Hand, Hemp, organic cotton, bamboo or otherwise Eco-Sustainable.
I like to do wardrobe & costumes for bands & performers. I am also looking for professional fashion rep's on the east & west coast, in Europe & Japan. I would like to trade music with folks. Ahem. I would have liked to meet Mitch Hedberg. Oh well. And last but not least I am looking to keep in touch with other designers, bands, & old & new friends alike. /Users/
