About me:
Burlesque Dancer since 2005, Ballerina for about 10 years, Tap Dancer for 5 years, Jazz, Modern and Martha Graham for less than 3 years. Never trained with a company, only a studio. Taught Ballroom, Latin and Swing to beginning dancers at Arthur Murray for 3 months.
I'm currently taking a hiatus from Single Point Dance Trapeze lessons at Canopy Studio in Athens until a new Saturday session in my level starts up again. I took Nicole Mermens' Intro to Aerial Dance at D.A.I.R. in October 2007 after my class at Canopy was canceled.
I began dancing burlesque with Torchy Taboo 's Steam Heat Dancers in March of 2005. Our big debut was Torchy Taboo's Traveling Charm School September 24–26, 2005 at the Eyedrum and the Earl. It was a weekend ensemble of talent from Atlanta's Doll Squad , Atlanta's Big City Burlesque , Nashville's Panty Raid and New York's Jo Boobs Weldon .
I joined Big City Burlesque in June 2006 to perform a high-kicking Can-Can number. Since working with the troupe, I have performed a marionette ballet number, a fetish shoe number and have represented the troupe as merchandise and donations girl, but my specialty seems to be the can-can which I perform at every big Big City Burlesque stage show. My dance partner Kat and I represent Big City Burlesque in the Inman Park, Oakhurst and Little Five Points parades. She and I also participate with Salute II History during the Dragon*Con parade .
It is my pleasure to have been the first model for Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Atlanta . As an art school graduate and x-fine art model, I believe that there is more to humankind than the classic nude form (although I do enjoy it immensely). It is the artists' responsibility to immerse themselves in their surrounding environment, culture and subcultures. What better way than to follow in the footsteps of Toulouse-Lautrec? I continue to model with Dr. Sketchy's Atlanta at promotional events and fundraisers.
You may see me around town moonlighting with various promoters and club events. I have worked with Secret Room since 2007 for their annual Skin II USA pre-parties, Cyberaver and club events as a burlesque fan dancer, trapeze artist, runway model and go-go dancer. I have been performing with Agoraphobia Productions since 2006 as fan dancer, trapeze artist and go-go dancer. In 2007, I began fan dancing for fetish and leather events and contests and work regularly as booth bunny for Fantasies in Leather during leather events in the southeast. Most recently, I teamed up with Allen Allert for his New Year's Eve party at Beleza and look forward to upcoming events.
In the summer of 2006, I took my first Dance Trapeze workshop and instantly fell in love. Trapeze has become my newest obsession. I love the tension of wrapping your body around and through the ropes and the trapeze bar. It is a kind of focused freedom performing halfway between the floor and the ceiling. I have not been this passionate about performing since I was studying ballet seriously in my teens, dreaming of becoming a professional ballerina.
My current fantasy is to run away to Vegas or Europe to pursue a career as a performing artist. Imagine me with a suitcase full of vintage costumes, a make-up bag, wig case, two cats and a trapeze bar stepping off a jet plane into the unknown. How lovely it would be to make a living doing what I love to do!
In the meantime, I've resolved to pursue training in my free-time. I'm taking trapeze lessons and learning beauty and stage secrets from my sisters and brothers at Big City Burlesque. When I can budget it, I would like to try taking ballet and tap lessons once a week. I'll need both if I want to get into the chorus lines and become a showgirl. Let's see how long it takes me to get back into top form so that I can perform with the Rockettes or to join a circus!
