How is it going ya'll? My name is Jacynth,(It's pronounced Jason)I'm from Freeport Grand Bahamas, Bahamas. I came to the U.S. in 97. I love Hip Hop culture. The music, the graffiti, the break dancing, and the spirit it lit in me. I’ve been listening to Hip Hop since I was 9. In the Bahamas I was exposed to Reggae dancehall, R&B, Soul (Neo Soul), Calypso, and the music native to my homeland (Island Music). When I came to America, I started listening to alot of different types of music genres that was new to me. Genres like Alternative Rock, Pop, Folk, Techno, Trance, Techno Rock, Acid Jazz, House, New Age, Gegorion Chant, and lately, Spoken Word. I am clearly a music lover as you can see.Veriety is clearly evident. I started writing rhymes when I was 14. I was always intrigued by wordplay, lyricism and clever writing. Poetry at the moment is what I’m listening to. I was inspired by many different types of artist such as Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Sade, Johny Cash, P.M.Dawn, Tracy Chapman, Lauren Hill, Lionel Richie, Cindy Lauper, Madonna, Nas, Tupac Shakur, Biggie, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang, BCC, Snoop, Dr.Dre, Outkast, Def Squad, TheFugees,KRS1, Big Daddy Kane, The Lox, Killah Priest, Nature, U.K rapper the street, Timbaland, Eminem, And so many, Just to name a few. I tried to get a deal in 2004 and 05 and was not successful so I started Columbo Recordings. The spirit of Hip-Hop today is weak. There is no more variety in the culture. Hip Hop needs a renaissance. Rappers no longer uplift and inspire the masses. All they do is brag. Even some of the vets. Change will come soon, very soon.
