About Me


DeWitt Cooper III is a native of Jacksonville,FLorida. During his tenure in Jacksonville DeWitt Cooper III atended the world renowned Douglas Anderson School of the Arts where he was a vocal performance and musical Theater Major. While at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts DeWitt Cooper was a two time recipient of the prestigious Bravo Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 1997 DeWitt Cooper was recognized for his role as Don Quixote at the Florida State Thespian Conference and honored with the Critics Choice Award. Also in 1997 Mr.Cooper was a recipient of the African American YOuth Achievers Award for his commitment to the arts and the community. For that he's a recognized JMI scholar thanks to the Late Jim Moran and the Moran Family. In 1997 DeWitt Cooper III was the first African AMerican Male to be admitted into the Florida State University Musical Theatre Program. While attending FSU Mr.Cooper discovered concert dance and had the oportunity to study under Anjuli Austin former dancer of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Shela Huphery, Leymis Bolanos, Millicent Johnnie founder of Phlava Dance Company and former dancer of the Urban Bush Woman, and also Lela Jones of the Urban Bush Woman. Mr.Cooper has earned is Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Contemorary Modern Dance from Case Western Reserve University under the direction of Karen Potter former dancer of the Hawkins Company and Gary Galbraith Former principle dancer of the Martha Graham Company.During his time at Case he has trained not only under Karen and Gary but also under the direction of Richard Dickinson of the Great Lakes Festival Ballet/ Ohio Ballet, also under Diane Gray former Principle dancer with the Graham Company. He has danced with the Greatlakes Festival Ballet and the Verletzza Dace company in Cleveland and he was also a member of the Phlava Dance Company, and is currently Directior of Dance for the Irene C. Edmonds Youth Theatre. In 2006 he was honored with the Okie Award for most impacting chorography.He has recently been nominated with the Wittikie Award at Case Western Reserve uniersity for Exellence in Undergraduate Teaching, as well as a nomination for the National Deans List of 2007.I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts! LaVeda Cooper (mom)- She always seems to make things happen even when she is in her most difficult state.Stacey Cooepr- (sister)- She is a brave mother of two and she neveer backs down from a challange.Joel Marc (best friend/brother)-He is always supportive and he is the best analyst I know when it comes to life and its chalenges. He is a constant encouragement to the people around him.Michelle Stokes(best frind/Sister)- She has been my best friend since 7th grade. We do everything and talk about everything together. She is the next greates buisness woman to come. She is also one of the best alents I know. SHe has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard.She is always a constant encouragement.Michelle Jackson(best friend/Sister)She is one of the hardest working people I know.
