It was the spring of '83. It was all about Transformers and GI Joe
and I was a locally respected sugar-pusher and a powerful
Garbage Pail Kids trading card mogul. Well versed in the art of
supply and demand, Id go to the corna sto before school and
rack up on Pixie Stix, Now n Laters, Jolly Ranchers, Laffy Taffy,
Airheads and Blow Pops. I made a 10 cent profit for each candy I
sold. I was good, damn good. I had the fifth graders eating out of
my hands. Even the white girls loved me, No, they loved the power
that I harnessed in my black backpack. But, as with any great idea,
others are gonna try to bite. I've learned that even the best hustles
dont last forever, you gotta have more than one.
