I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4"You didn't think it would be like this... think of all the things you've missed
So don't waste it ...it's especially for you" (from Rookie).
This about me page maybe a little bit unconventional because I don't really like talking about me. what i can do is give you a synopsis and fill in the blanks as time goes on(Check out the blogs).I grew up in the South Side of Chicago so my musical roots are pretty much based there. My great grandmother was one of the first members of Calvery Light Church and my Grandmother played piano and would sing there in the choir. Going to service with my great grandmother practically everyday was that I can remember vividly to this day although it's been many, many years. The music is instilled within me and has major influences on my life. Mahalia Jackson was a one of the first Gospel songstress that I recall and still brings tears of joy to me.My Mom Elaine, Aunt Joyce, and Uncle Raymond would always say that I enjoyed singing. They said I have an old soul because of the music I would listen to. "Charlie Brown" was one my favorite records and James Brown, Sam Cooke and The Motown Sound were big influences. As like any kid growing up and into music you try and emulate what you see and hear. At one point when I was young, me and a couple buddies formed a little trio. We would perform all of Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five songs in the neighborhood. I believe it was in my friends basement and would charge 5 cents for kids to come and listen. Wow, 5 cents for lip sinking Michael Jackson, we were onto something and didn't even know it. I even thought I was Michael Jackson after that. Ah but you can only stay young for so long. After listening to Reasons and Thats the Way Of The World, I listened to music a different way. Songwriting became a focal point. Stevie Wonder Music Of My Mind, Rufus And Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, Sly and The Family Stone, Larry Graham, Parliament/ Funkadelic, Rance Allen Group all changed the way I looked at music. That one can say something without actually saying it.
