We Are The Poster Band For Abortion.

About Me

Shadowcide is out of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, which is a suburb just outside of Philadelphia. The band was formed in early 1998 by vocalist "Fabulous" Frank Miller, drummer John Pietrykiewicz and bassist Pat Barrett while the trio was still in high school. The band started of all places...in a church. Pat and John would be jamming and Frank would be writing down lyrics or reading. The trio continued to make music for a month or two and decided that they wanted to start their own metal band. The band would feature Frank on vocals, Pat on bass and John on drums. The band had several songs with music (drums and bass) and lyrics written and it was now time to search for a guitarist to complete the line-up. The band tried out a few guitarists they knew, but they did not fit the equation. After a few weeks of this, the band thought it was hopeless. Then Pat met Anthony Di Anna. The band found out that Anthony played guitar and wanted to give him a shot. It was a sure thing from the start. Anthony became the missing element that the band needed. Now, with the line-up complete, it was time to start creating a set of songs to play and settle on a name for the band. After going through about a million names, they finally settled on Rat Pack. Rat Pack would practice at John's house for months and was constantly writing and pumping out new songs for their set, each sounding better than the last. Everything seemed to be falling into place for the band. Frank, Pat and John's dream of having their own metal band was now a reality. But, after a disastrous show at a local YMCA, Anthony decided to quit the band leaving Rat Pack to once again look for a new guitarist. Upon Anthony leaving, the three remaining members decided that they wanted to start from scratch and create a new set and sound. In mid to late 1998, after trying out several guitar players, they finally settled on Mike Campanile. Mike was then the guitarist of Spellbound among other projects. With the addition of Mike, the band became a much stronger unit, changed their name to Shadowcide and became much more darker and heavier than before. Mike also helped define the sound that the band would later call "trash" metal. The band was together from 1998-2005 and played several shows throughout the Philly and New Jersey music scene. The band has played shows with such bands as Spellbound, Internal Chaos, Body Bag, War Head and Body Part Trophy Case. In 2005, the band decided to break up due to personal issues with John, and Pat getting married and moving to Toms River New Jersey. In 2007, the band decided to get back together with three of the original four members after a two-year absence. We are currently writing new material and getting ready to break back out into the Philly music scene. Get ready for some ear-splitting metal and beer soaked debauchery!!!!!
