RIOT GRRRL: REVOLUTION GRRRL STYLE NOW!
Riot Grrrl: Revolution Grrrl Style Now! is a vivid exploration of the ‘Riot Grrrl’ subculture which emerged in the 1990s in Washington, USA. The book draws upon documentaries such as ‘The EMP Riot Grrrl Retrospective’ and digs a little deeper, with insights from DIY Grrrl artists past and present, in the USA and the UK. The book is wonderfully illustrated and includes extracts from pioneering Riot Grrrl zines such as Girl Germs and Jigsaw Youth. An essential read for any Grrrl enthusiast or those who are interested in learning how Riot Grrrl figures as a third wave source of female empowerment and resistance against misogyny.

PAROXYSM RECORDS: THE 21ST CENTURY KILL ROCK STARS
Whilst clicking through Bust Magazine's Girl Wide Web I discovered a link to an independent record company claiming to house an array of Grrrl tastic acts and W-O-W they were not leading me on. Every single band at Paroxysm Records makes me wonder, the Grrrl-dork-queen that I am, why didn't I know about this place before? The new KRS homes bands with electro hints, indie noise and most pleasingly the sound of old school Grrrl. Raw and edgy. Acts like 'The Sarcastic Bitch', 'Mess Up The Mess' and 'Golden Starlet' coming up front as my pickings for you. I demand you go to Paroxysm Records and go to music heaven!
