About Me

I am a music producer, designer, artist, and entreprenuer.
Get Your Own MySpace Music PlayerT hroughout the years, urban music fans have enjoyed track masterpieces from top known producers such as: Marley Marl, Teddy Riley, Trackmasters, RZA, Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes, Jazzy Jeff, Kanye West, Timbaland, Dark Child, Jermaine Dupri, and Raphael Saadiq to name a few; however, the Urban Music market has yet to experience the rhythms of a “signature” mainstream female beat creator and music producer. The vision of Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul/Soul/R&B producer Aisha Karimah is to make this a reality and be included among the names of urban music’s hottest producers of all times. Since the beginning of her existence, Aisha Karimah (Swahili for “generous life”) has been immersed in a fusion of Soul and Hip-Hop music culture. Born into a family of Motown-sound musicians, she began learning how to play the piano “by ear” at the tender age of five. By the age of nine, eight-track tapes, audio tapes and vinyl records of a new found music – now known as “Hip-Hop” out-numbered her black Barbie collection. “Soul music is the fabric of my being -- handed down through the bloodline and I have also been fortunate enough to have witnessed Hip-Hop music evolve from a ‘grassroots form of youth expression’ to an international phenomenon. As a child, my older brother would bring home these ‘unique’ records after visiting our cousins in Brooklyn, NY. These records were nothing like the typical Soul, Blues, Pop Rock, and Gospel music we were accustomed to hearing in the house and on the radio. Intrigued by them, I would sneak into those milk crates full of records and that’s when I fell in love with the sounds of Kurtis Blow, Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc, The Treacherous Three, Run DMC, and KRS-1 to name a few. Even back then, I can recall putting a tape recorder next to the Hi-Fi record player in order to dub these musical tracks for a school “Show-N-Tell” project -- nobody knew what I was presenting to them then. Now, virtually everybody in the world knows Hip-Hop music”, says Aisha Karimah. In 1986, Aisha Karimah would begin experimenting with duplicating popular Soul/R&B radio hits and recognizable Hip-Hop tunes using a small Casio keyboard she received as a Christmas gift. Two years later, at the age of 14, she began learning the ropes of studio recording and music production while interning at an independent record label. Throughout the years, Aisha Karimah would establish relationships with entertainment industry affiliates and eventually began paying her dues as one of few female urban music producers among many men. In addition to music production, Aisha Karimah has performed Marketing and Promotion duties for WPGC 95.5 FM (ranked the number 1 urban radio station) in Washington D.C. and Vibe Magazine in New York, N.Y. From 1999 – 2003, she founded and co-partnered Urban Anthology Entertainment Enterprise, Ltd. and oversaw urban marketing initiatives in the Baltimore- Washington Metropolitan area as well as managed area hip-hop and neo-soul artists. She has also serviced the greater community, for a number of years, as a youth activist and Educator. Currently the CEO of Aisha Karimah Holdings, Ltd., a premiere parent company dedicated to marketing art, beauty, entertainment, fashion and music, Aisha Karimah is rightfully nicknamed the “Jane of ALL trades” to personify her many God-given talents in music, business and beyond!
