About Me

Sanctuary of Shelbyville Inc. is a faith based, charitable organization offering assistance to victims of domestic violence. We are led by God to provide secure housing, food, clothing, advocacy, and biblically based counseling for all those who have suffered at the hands of an abuser. Our home at 137 East Washington Street, Shelbyville, Indiana. This site, which was formerly the Indiana National Guard Armory, offers great potential for meeting the needs of the women and chilren who are escaping a violent situation. This facility can provide secure indoor parking for staff and clients, adequate office and residencial space, connected to a large secure indoor play area for resident children, along with abundant storage space. The facility contains 30,000 square feet under roof, making it our first choice for this ministry. The ministry is led by a local couple David and Kari Farr who reside on the property and are guarantors for the financing of the property. Currently, the building is still undergoing rennovations in order to make this a safe place to seek refuge. The Farr's are living in the building now, in order to be available to take donations and refer women to other facilities. More funds are desperately needed before the doors can open and it can truly be a sanctuary for these victims of violence.Seek first his kingdom and all this will be given to you. Matthew 6:33

Books:

Currently there is a regional shelter for victims of domestic violence. This shelter is in Columbus, Indiana called Turning Point. We would seek to assist Turning Point, to increase their advocacy program in Shelby County. We offer office space, meeting rooms, and unceasing prayer in support of their organization. Turning Point is lacking assistance with transitional housing for those still in need after a 30 day stay in the Columbus shelter. That is where we come in.

Heroes:

We admire the people who survive domestic violence and begin a new life free from fear. With God All Things are Possible.
