Nestled in the neighborhood of Old Irving Park in Chicago is the studio of a buried treasure that is slowly becoming unearthed. Underneath headphones and tangled wires, indie rock artist James Eric composes experimental pop soundscapes, splicing them with distorted noise rock, and reinterpreting them for an inventive, yet accessible, melody-driven backdrop. The heart-on-sleeve sincerity is saturated with fierce dynamics, telling simple truths with a single voice and one man's instruments. 2007 welcomes the culmination of his songwriting career with 2 releases in one year.
Be Right There and Tonight The Moon both dip into numerous genres; from dance-trance to plaintive folk, but always with a stylistic consistency that maintains the artist's identity. Both records are genuine and moving pieces of work, utilizing an undeniable knack for catchy hooks to explore the potential of off-beat instrumentation in the ultimate pursuit of combining the emotionally stark lyrics with a quiet-to-loud intensity that best befits them. In 2007, James will bring that sincerity he captures in the studio out into performance spaces throughout the summer, whether it be clubs or living rooms. James' motivation and passion takes his new beginning and turns it into something that can't be met with cynicism or doubt; only acceptance and passion.
