DJ Effrocks

DJ Effrocks started to play electronic music at home at the age of 17, the first years he played Trance music with CDs. His enthusiasm for djing encreased day by day. He played and practiced mixing almost every minute of his mean time. Doing mixtapes for himself and for friends was a great pleasure for him, and playing mixsessions with his friend DJ Pandora as well. Soon the two guys started to do some privat parties with a few friends. It was just for fun, just for playing their stuff. Their style developed from Trance to Acid and step by step they got infected with Underground Techno, stlyes like Progressive Techno and Schranz were still ruling in those times. But he quickly became interested in different styles like Electro and TechHouse. The heroes were DJs and producers like Thomas Schumacher, Johannes Heil, Thomas P. Heckmann and Chris Liebing of course. At that time he still didn..t have a dj name.
At the age of 18 he was invited to join the SUCKeR-Crew and the legendary 1210 Club. The guys supported the club in making bookings, doing promotion, helping before and during the club parties and even djing. Beeing a dj he always dreamed about and one day he got the opportunity to play one hour at the beginning of a party at the chill out floor. His sound at that time turned into deep and melodic techno in Truesoul and Kanzleramt style.
In times of getting sick about that Progressive and Schranz Techno hype Adam Beyer released the first Truesoul appearance „Ignition Key“ witch turned his attention to more deepnes. He is greatful for this album until today. After this his favourites were the sounds of Alexander Kowalski and Heiko Laux for example, and of course the other non hard side of Adam Beyer. At the age of 20 he got some turntables and started to play with vinyl. Soon he got the chance to play at 1210 Club rather regularly, but he didn..t count himself as a resident. At that time the DJ name Effrocks was created.
His sound turned a little bit harder again. And soon the influence of Electro Techno and Electro House could be heard in his sets. Also the Minimal thing was not far away. Effrocks often played warm up sets at the 1210 Club, alone and with his friend DJ Pandora. Also he played together with Mike Large (respect to the best resident ever) at the prime time. He improved his skills from one gig to the next.
His musical interests for other styles influenced him also and made him more flexible. Listening to Hip Hop or Reggae is as possible as Rock or other electronic music styles like Break Beats or Trip Hop for example. After the closing of 1210 Club he played at different parties of the „Good bye 1210“-club tour. He chanched between Electro House and Electro Techno. Since March 2008 he regularly plays at the BASH CLUB event series at Casino in Amberg (Bavaria) as a resident DJ.
Now he knows that playing always the same style wont make him happy and if he isn..t the people wont be as well! Because trends come and trends go, they may influence him, but he wont play only for the hype. „I hate trends“, Cicret Cinema once said. He likes the up-and-downs between the straight, the groovy and the melody, between the bright and the dark. He also likes to surprise. Most of his sets are based on Techno. But sometimes he also likes to play housy sets, wich are kind of experiments for himself. It is important for him to express feelings with music - music creates feelings! He likes to see his crowd smiling and celebrating, to put the people on a trip, because he is on a trip himself. His intention is to burn the dancefloor! All his influences are coming together now: Techno, some Acid, House, Electro, Minimal, a few BreakBeats and the melodies. Get that groove. So who rocks? EffROCKS!!
