Welcome to OLIVER RAUER PHOTOGRAPHY!
Oliver Rauer is a freelance photographer, artist and musician from Newcastle upon Tyne in the dark and damp northeast of England. Oliver, who is originally from Germany but moved to England in the mid 90's, discovered a talent and ultimately a passion for photography some years ago but didn't consider pursuing this line of creativity on a more professional basis until the beginning of 2006. Since then he has come a long way and interest in his unique, atmospheric, post-apocalyptic style of photography is growing fast. In the past Oliver has worked for and with numerous bands such as THE USED, RISE AGAINST, SETHNEFER, THE DEAD 60S and most recently HIGH ON FIRE. He is also currently shooting for NARC. Magazine in Newcastle and Deuce Management & Promotion in London.

Oliver in his own words:
"I've been taking photos for years, it's just that initially I didn't realise its true potential as a creative outlet and how well it suited me. Photography is a lot more than just pointing your camera at something and pressing the shutter. Photography is like painting a picture - painting with light. It's about skill, composition, certain techniques, an understanding of what photography is and a deep rooted passion about the whole thing. I paint with shades and shadows, textures and structures and moods and emotions. I'm obsessed with these things. I don't really have a lot of time for colour. Colour distracts me. I see the world in black and white. I look at a sunny day in spring and I see its dark, sombre and sinister side and that's what my work is all about - the darker side of photography ...."
