Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor Samson was born and raised in the east New York and Brownsville sections of Brooklyn New York. at twelve years old he was sentenced to eighteen months for armed robbery and assault. while incarcerated Samson developed a skill for writing and became involved with the Nation Of Islam God's and Earths.After his release, Samson's focus shifted back to the streets which resulted in him serving more than seven years of his adult life in prison.In June 2004 Samson was released from Fort Dix Federal Prison in which he was a part of a special program that helped misguided youth.Shortly after his release, Samson started filming a documentary on Brooklyn girls, mainly from Brownsville, involved in an underground fighting circuit.In August 2005, cultural writer, critic and director Nelson George saw the trailer of Samson's documentary, "Brooklyn Girl Fight Club" and helped him secure a deal at BET to complete and broadcast the film. Samson is an executive producer of the documentary. Subsequently he landed a permanent segment spot on a new Bet show called The Chop Up in which Samson acquired the tittle "The official Street Cat".With his unique perspective, Samson is currently a BET News Correspondent, covering a range of issues relevant to the black community. In addition to daily news briefs, Samson has produced, written and hosted his own special reports: Bullets And Ballets: The Official Street cat Goes To Washington, and 50 Shots, which explored gun violence and police brutality in the Sean Bell case respectively.Samson also produced and wrote numerous news briefs and narrated many BET News specials including the Tupac (PAC Lives) and the Biggie (the Notorious B.I.G Ten Years Later).This past year, Samson has been invited to sit and speak on several panels. He was a participant along side of Kevin Powell, Salt, Lil mo, and Ed Lover discussing the state of Hip Hop on the youth panel for REV. Al Sharpton's National Action Network Convention in the spring of 2007, delivering the opening speech and the closing statements.Samson was called by the state senator Malcolm Smith in the summer of 2007 to speak to misguided youths in Queens New York along side of the Furtado Brothers.In the Fall of 2007 Samson was called upon by congressman Danny K Davis from Illinois 7th District to speak on a panel concerning prison re-entry along side of Judge Mathis and Joyce Ann Brown at the Congressional Black Caucus.Samson is currently finishing part one of his three book series, and is working on new shows for BET.
