About Me

In Life timing is Everything.
You can only become truly accomplished
at something you love.
Dont make money your goal.
Instead, pursue things you love doing,
and do them so well that people can t take their eyes off you.

Poets, Poetry and Spoken Word
poet A writer of poems. One who is especially gifted in the perception and expression of the beautiful or lyrical. Poets are often regarded as imaginative thinkers or writers.
poetry The art or work of a poet. Characterized by romantic imagery. A piece of literature written in meter; verse. Prose that resembles a poem in some respect, as in form or sound. The essence or characteristic quality of a poem. A quality that suggests poetry, as in grace, beauty, or harmony: the poetry of the dancer's movements.
Spokenword a form of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken rather than sung. Spoken-word is often done with a musical background, but emphasis is kept on the speaker.
One of the most common sorts of spoken word performances is performance poetry, where a poet either reads previously-published poems, or reads poems specifically written to be performed aloud. Another kind that has gained popularity in recent years is political and social commentary, done in such a way that it is, while still prose, somewhat more artistic than a typical speech. Spoken word artists are often poets and musicians.

"The Drink of Champions"
They Call Me Black And I Am Proud Of It
Aren't pyramids in Africa?
If so, weren't they built
by people with black skin?
I'm told there is a great dream
but, why should I learn about a history
that won't put food in my Black hand?
I'm told a mighty highway
was built with learning and books
for a proud Black civilization
of inventors and educators,
but someone has hidden these pages
from school children with dreams
to hide what is expected of them
to keep the wealth from everyday man.
Aren't the dark ages of slavery - here today?
Why should I learn
about a once great Black people:
Frederick Douglas and W.E.B. DuBois
Malcolm X and Rosa Parks
and the good Dr. King
and many other African Kings and Queens
beyond bright black robes and hats?
They can't find this Black man a job?
Why do they call me Black,
and steal my ancestry and identity
from library bookshelves? ...
Why do they call me Black
and use slavery tricks, lies,
and Gestapo tactics
to train my own Black people
to try to stomp and chop
me down to smithereens? ...
Why are there some Black people
telling of Black-brainwashing,
while, other new Blacks
and other races of people
are riding our black broken backs,
then helping to drug and cheat
our people down to oblivion? ...
Why are those old history
books and stories so important to you
when I can't get decent medical care
when my babies are wondering
where we will live and sleep tonight?
Once we were African Kings and Queens
now aren't we just
puppets on a string
the black crow is flying,
death is in the house,
death is no longer just a dream,
and Malcolm X's motto has been stolen
by race haters - "by any means necessary"
is their new motto
to keep the Black man beaten down ...
So our people no longer dare to dream?
When will my people learn
the struggle is not outside, its within?
It's a self-defeating African American family
trained to hate and abuse itself
by those who know control and fear
will keep our race divided,
and that, if you kill the Black family,
you crush the African American dream.
I say we need an
African American Flag in America
A flag of what we may someday become
so our children
and others will know
where we came from,
what we stand for,
and what we are actually made of.
And we should fly that flag
high in winds proud and strong beneath silver stars!

Intension Without Comprehension

I had to reevaluate myself,
not every woman deserve to have my wealth,
I have grown up under the belt of ignorance that
forever endangered my health
I thought it was ok to have sex freely, But not many
deserve me,
I had to revaluate that quickly.
In Gods eyes, I seemed to be demonized,
telling myself lies
that it was acceptable
when all along it should be regrettable
my intension was without comprehension
I had an educated lesson, for I received the blessing,
In order to achieve,
I must not let myself get deceived
if one love got to leave, open the door and escort her please.

My spirit should speak louder then my physical
my immortal should not be viewed in todays portal
but look far beyond the lovely creature singing the song
for one night will be gone then tomorrow possibly the dawn?
So much energy in faithless love I became tired,
almost forgetting who I was
My skin began to rub off, what was hard in me began to
become soft
Spiritually I became lost, what a I high price,
because my soul could have been the cost
All because my intension without comprehension.

Beyond Appearance

Yes, I adore your eyes
Not only for their unique shade of brown
But also for the way they see the world clearly
Even on the cloudiest of days

Yes, I adore your lips
Not only for their kissable qualities
But also for the syllables that flow from them
Never uttering an unpleasant sound

Yes, I adore your nose
Not only for the cute way it flares when you laugh
But also for the deep breathes taken in
As we meditate on the meaning of life

Yes, I adore your ears
Not only for their elegance when properly adorned
But also for being attentively attuned
Hearing and listening with an open heart

Yes, I adore your hips
Not only for holding and caressing at night
But also for bearing the Divine burden
Of producing an carrying the next generation

"Ms. Eye Candy…"

Look at you Ms. Lady body carries a mean definition Sculpted by the heavens,

perfection every inch of it Eyes tell a story of an intimate seduction Lips grasping my attention losing focus…

Thoughts interrupted by images of me being the Mac gloss up on it.

Face should be on a runway or grazing magazine pages Walk is hypnotic;

turning heads when you enter places With a look that's exotic could be displayed across the world on stage

There are a few words you hear on an everyday basis like Damn baby,

Excuse me there but, can I get a minute miss lady Bodies sweet,

makes me want to take you on trips to places where it's hot and sandy

So, So, Sweet I had to nickname you Miss EyeCandy…

A Poem for Dreamers
You lean into my eyes and you see rivers,
Old rivers that stagnate in the past.
Their fingers touch floors of this world
And wrap around the Blackness of my skin.
Muddy, long, wet rivers
Like my 'peoples' path
And they flow everywhere.
In the deep brown scars in my eyes
You see how things used to be ...
Pyramids
And chains
And master mentality arrangements ...
Rigged hard like hot cotton fields
And you hope they never change
You see what you were told to see,
But, I only wanted you to see me.
Now I talk to rivers
And the rivers talk back to me.
They linger like dreams
And spread their life to everywhere
Like my 'peoples'.
Even on the shores of a defeatist society ...
Now I walk in deserts.
Deserts of broken hopes and dreams
They seem to be everywhere ...
Black and White and blue ... - Yellow too
Now I see deserts of my people
But, I'm left wondering if ...
They truly see themselves?
As these old rivers, and truth, dry up to dust ....
So many rivers have flowed through us
In bright and lustrous hearts.
Poets remind us of what we can still be,
Maya, Langston,
Malcolm X, and Martin too ...
And many new Poets flew ...
No, not like raisins dying in the sun
No, not like servants and lesser things
No, not like inferiors and a doomed beings ...
But, like Captains and Presidents
Soon we'll be Saints and Saviors too ...
And all American heroes for you ...
Dreamers and cloud walkers
My 'peoples', my hopes
-- All walked inside the dream
They made dreams reality;
In the highlands and the low lands
The rivers flowed ...
In dark darkness and smooth light
Like my 'peoples'
Each one of them, will love you too ...
And someday, the rivers
Like my 'peoples'
Shall flow again
Great the vision and dreams
Wise the rivers flow ...

Heroes:

The Victim
He can feel it leave him
slipping through his bloodied fingers
like a fist full of water
it oozes out in slow crimson
eyes wide and frozen
mouth twitched and hung open in gaping agony
choking, searching for a scream
only to find it replaced with a warm,
thick liquid-gurgle
terror strickened he becomes
as his body painfully betrays him in rigid snapping spasms
his vision blurs as numbing fire-needles dart up his spine
to the base of the skull
one by one
life functions flicker like dying church candles
making it more and more difficult
to exist
the moments seem to slow down,
almost stopping to watch
him
struggle to be
his heart sprints,
fighting to accommodate
stalling,
growing weary from overload
lungs flood with warm thickness
mind swells with panic
each breath
shallow and effortful
more cherished
than the one before
while blood bubbles its way to the surface
chasing up the back of his throat,
gushing warmly over the tongue,
dripping through the teeth
before splattering clean on linoleum tiles like new art work
He is in shock
face fixed in blatent disbelief
shocked
eye to eye with his murderer
as he slowly slumps down
down,
down,
falling to his knees
desparatly gripping the hemn of her skirt
with his bloodied palm,
the other hand clutching the kitchen knife in his chest
sorry
as weak eyes roll to the back of his skull
in darkness
And then it ends
Alone
whimpering and frantic
She stands there
over his now empty shell
frozen in tears
that sting the cuts under her swollen dark eyes
her mouth flushed with the metallic taste of blood
her blood
nursing her broken arm
wanting to scream but the fracture in her jaw prevents it
battered and bruised
broken and shattered
in mind and body
she stands there
A survivor
with his crimson life-liquid on her now trembling hands
She warned him not to beat on her again
She warned him.
