Injustice System Acceptance (I.S.A.), an anarcho punk band featuring ITM students based in Shah Alam, finally split-up somewhere in 2000 after two years together. Members of the I.S.A. went on to play in different bands, some started Fast Game & Relationsheep, and nowadays some of them are playing with Sharon Stoned and Nuisance Drilled .
Meanwhile, ex-guitarist Pijan & ex-bassist Man went on to form Weestoned and later Angkasawan Negara. In 2005, both of the guys decided to form a band with Mino (ex-Counterplot) on guitar and Kelly (ex-Blackhole) on drums. The band rehearsed but never played any show, and they also never had a name.
Somewhere in the middle of 2006, the band was joined by Mirdza (Relationsheep, ex-Plea for Peace) as the replacement for Kelly. Mino also jumped ship, and so the band continued on as a trio. During the Hari Raya of that year, Pijan heard from his friend Belacan that ex-Hostile Disgrace guitarist Joe was looking for a band to play in.
Soon the four guys got together and Gasoline Grenade was born.
Line-up: Pijan - Bass & Vocals, Man - Guitar & Vocals, Mirdza - Drums and Joe - Guitar & Vocals.
For the first time playing in bands, all the four members found that the new project is a lot more focused and united, especially in their aim for a simpler punk rock style which is fast and melodic.
As for their musical background, each has different tastes in music. Pijan and Man share the love for I Farm, Propagandhi, Quadiliacha, Screeching Weasel, Your Mother, Divide & Conquer and many more. As for Joe, he's very much into 80’s American hardcore such as Minor Threat, Circle Jerks, Youth Of Today, and of course Bad Religion.
Starting from early 2007, Gasoline Grenade started to play around KL. And so the journey begins...
After playing for 1 year in the same lineup, Joe's getting married and start to concentrate on his familiy. Mirdza, the firmly drummer also finally quit the band as Aiman from Civiil Disorder /Dum Dum Tak replacing him. For the moment, they're still keeping the line up as 3-pieces.
Here's a video of Gasoline Grenade live @ the Stick It To The Man (Yeah! Stick's DOOM birthday bash!) gig, CM Annexe, Kuala Lumpur - March 17th 2007. Shot and edited by Fahmi Reza (director of Indie Film Fest 2007 winner - 10 Tahun Sebelum Merdeka). Thanks to all who were there:
