Band Members: haydain neale - vocals
Haydain Neale was born in the small wooded village of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada about 4 hours before his mother was really mentally prepared. He had no idea he wanted to be a musician before his 21st birthday, when he heard that Yanni and John Tesh were going on their World Domination Tour, and he took it upon himself to stem their tide of sonic evil.
He resides in Toronto now with his sexy wife Michaela and his beautiful daughter Yasmin (who needs to get off line this instant and do some homework). He’s a Virgo who enjoys walks by the beach, processed mango chutney, “Shaft In Africa†the WB mini series and changing the world one song at a time.
JK Kanakis - bass
JK Kanakis is the most elusive member of the band. He walked away from a promising architecture career to create “relevant music on an international level. And chase booty.†He’s a Pisces that enjoys 3 ply bathroom tissues, tzatziki sauce, leather booths with 5 inch heels and Jarvis Church. He owns 15 basses, but refuses to call any of them by any name at all. Not even “Bass Over There†or “Dirty Stinkin’ Bassâ€. He often greets guests to his Swizz Life Studio with nothing but a smile and a house coat, which some find very unnerving. Favourite pastimes include: Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Classical Greek and Russian Literature, Running, and Cooking.
Davide Direnzo - drums
Davide Direnzo was a child prodigy. “Born with stick in has hands,†claim some. He was also very good at helping his mom finish huge platters of panini for the ravenous brood which is his rather large, extended, non musical family. The entire clan resides in Guelph, Ontario. The Extended DiRenzos are all passionate and beautiful, right down to the furthest, most distant cousin. Strangest thing I ever saw. And I think they’re all up to something, but I just can’t put my finger on what yet. All I know is that no one really needs that much old meat hanging from rafters in the basement. Anyway, the reason he took up drums is so he could be heard over the cacophony made by such a hoard of hungry panini munchers. Davide plays Sonor drums.
Justin Abedin - guitars
Justin Abedin is an anomaly. A very brilliant, groovy, jazz obsessed anomaly. One of two jacksoul alumni to actually have his Bachelors in Bebop, Justin is one of only 2 or three guitarists on the planet who managed to survived the devastating 80’s phase of Mullet Metal and come out a kinder, wiser, more soulful musician. Fact is, there’s not a whole lot this guy can’t do. Besides curling. He’s a Virgo who isn’t fussy about the ply of tissue offered at the venue. He likes Indian and Italian cuisine, coffee ice cream (though he hates coffee) micro brewed beer, wine, scotch and brandy. His guitar collection is huge, but his favourites include a Fender Telecaster (with Seymour Duncan pickups - JB jr., Lil' 59, Nashville Studio), Gibson Nighthawk and a Takamine acoustic.
Ron Lopata - keyboards
Ron Lopata is an Aries. He enjoys 2 ply toilet paper and Marinara sauce, but not often simultaneously. His professed favourite style of dress is best described as, “Whatever JK is not wearing. He’s a gifted songwriter, keyboardist and producer who often raids the jacksoul roster for session musicians. Between producing for such acts as Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven and Mistacronx he continues to remix and perform and even teach the odd gifted student when he’s not on the road. Since the last time we “did the tour thing†as jacksoul, Ron managed to run around the continent with Ashely McIsaac for the first half of 2003 and was only ever molested musically. He continues to astound me with his unswerving commitment to the Seven-Eleven-Super-Slushy-for-breakfast habit. Could that be the secret sauce in his soul stew?
