Zapoura Rose Calvert is a native to Portland, Oregon. While earning her undergraduate degree in English Literature at Whitman College, Zapoura studied vocal music privately, participating in solo recitals, the Requiem Quartet, and the Whitman Chorale. Currently, an adjunct professor of writing at Portland State University and Portland Community College, she specializes in integrating music and visual art into the classroom. While teaching and writing poetry are two of her passions, singing is most definitely the other. In 2006, Zapoura joined local Cuban band Cubaneo and sang with them until September 2007.
