Hello, My name is Skeeter and I need your help. I'm a 7-month-old mini Dachshund that has a Liver Shunt. For those that don't know a Liver Shunt is where the blood bypasses the liver. Therefore the blood is not cleaned of the toxins that are in it and it is recirculated back through the body. The effects of this are neurological problems and seizures. I also have problems moving around. I can walk and run but I fall down every third step this too is caused from the Liver Shunt. I live indoors and have to be supervised when I go out due to falling and not being able to get back up, I also have a hard time playing with others because they knock me down.
The help that I am asking for is donations to help with surgery so that I can have a better life. Right now I'm on medications twice a day and special food but this isn't fixing anything it's just helping to lengthen my life. My owner is a very good person and works hard for what she has. I live on a small farm with 5 horses, another mini Dachshund, and a cat. Everyone is taken very good care of including me. My owner wishes she could afford the surgery but she can't. She supports herself with no help but the cost of normal veterinary care, normal bills, and the odds and ins of life prevent her from affording a $3000 surgery.
