About Me

For the past twenty years plus Nik Fury has Provided people with cutting edge mixes and preformances in the Dj world. With excellent beat matching skills combined with the know-how and nack to add his own style of scratches and tricks, Nik is a recognizable artist in Portland Oregon and The Greater Northwest. In 1984 Nik was exposed to the 5 elements of "hip hop" through break dancing, m.c.ing, beat boxing, graffiti and djing. Nik Fury originally was a human beatbox and breakdancer for about 5 years at the age of 16. By 1987 Nik, at the age of 16 had his first set of turntables and had made his mind up to become a professional dj back in Madison Wisconsin. He was an original member of the "Tribal Brothers", an underground hip hop dj crew that preformed and threw numerous large scale events in the greater South central wisconsin area. Nik Fury had studdied and collected house music simultaneously as hip hop beginning around 1986 through the great rave days of the early and mid 90's helping him to become an accomplished house and techno dj as well. With the new challenges of other styles like Drum & Bass and eventually Turntablism itself, Nik wanted to try to mix and scratch anything possible. In 1996 Nik Fury had relocated to Portland Oregon and began forming The "Clan of the Cavemack" with several other relocated dj allies. After cordinating and preforming numerous events in Portland with the Cavemack crew the new task at hand was to start an underground hiphop culture... This was his brother Tim's(Venom 33 1/3) idea, but all the Cavemacks agreed to contribute. This was to be named "SickBay" which now umbrella's numerous artists, mc's, dj's, and producers and provides an outlet for young hip-hopers the chance to be exposed to the culture that has become a way of life for so many people globally. Nik is now entering a new era, one as a producer as well now. He has completed his first cd that will be available the summer of 2007, under his production name "TidbiT". (See His page here on myspace.com.) And for the first time ever Nik is now giving beginner lessons for others who wish to learn the fundamentals of mixing and scratching records. Nik Fury still has a few residentcies here in Portland Oregon where you can hear him spin all kinds of music along with guests weekly. Friday nights at Pala and Saturday nights at East Chinatown Lounge.
