Hip Hop Hotter than a Hob

About Me

Courting Live @ The GrapesVictorian Era Live @ The GrapesTea Live @ The GrapesCountdown Live @ The GrapesTo be perfectly frank (if we may) we can't recall a time before G=MC2 (or "G to the C" for short) existed. Come to think of it...were we in traffic-accident related comas leading up to the writing of 'Chess', our first hit? Haven't the foggiest. What we do remember, though, is the forging of rhyme over cups of tea, freestyling chunky verse about 'takin' it to the spout!' and 'brews up, heeeey'... When we began realising that hip hop came as easily to us as water to a boil when in a kettle, we decided to form a rhyme-spittin', tea drinkin', historically relevant rap duo, and to take on the underground hip hop music scene on our own terms. Thus, "Chess" was born, and what a reception it received! It grew, you see, from a tiny musical seed the size of one of Snoop Doggs tooth-diamonds to an acorn tree of popularity. Rave reviews started pouring (like hot water from a kettle) into the facebook and myspace inboxes. When you read such words of inspiration as "Lads this is really quite brilliant. I want to see it live" Mike McCarthey, (10/04/2007) "It's Sick man!!!" (Maneeta Mistry, 10/04/2007) and "This may well be the poshest hip-hop I've ever heard!" (Susan Jones, 10/04/2007) it's hard not to feel that you've made it. People seemed to dig what we were makin'. We'd created all samples, beats and other musical miscellany ourselves, and were inspired to do so again on the follow up to "Chess". Thus no real pressure was felt in the cooking pot of the studio (or "MC3-PO's room") during the creation of "Tea", a song that gave G to the C an edgier gritter, gangsteryer sound than was found on "Chess". This again became a fan-favourite, and truly paved the way for follow-up song "The Victorian Era", finding this duo at greater ease than we had been previously, which is reflected in the laid back, gin and juice-drinking, rusk-eating summer hip pop delivery of its vocabulary. Other tracks are soon to follow, consequentially completing work on the debut ep, entitled "White Pursuits". It's easy street really, with talent like this. G t' th' C are taking things in their stride. Fame came quicker than was expected, but it aint no thing when you have computer programs such as Fruityloops and Cool Edit, and a breeze-block shaped mental thesaurus present in the heads of both MCs. Is the world ready for G t' C? Probably not, but hey, it aint no thing (except that it is: it's a hip hop band that can be located at www.myspace.com/gequalsmcsquared).
