..This profile was edited with Thomas’ myspace editor™ V2.5 Growing up in a household filled with musical vibes, Dre’ Rock learned to appreciate all styles of music. It was the jazziness of his father’s album collections. It was the soulful funk and R&B of his mother’s 45’s that began the fusion of melodies in his head. Whenever my mother and father took a trip to the record store when I was young I would beg them to give me money to buy one 12 inch single of my choice. I would listen to the vocal version then flip it to the B side and construct my own rhymes to the instrumental. This began my training grounds to becoming an EMCEE. I vividly remember coming home from school each day bursting in the door to find moms cleaning the house, cooking dinner, and singing to her favorite tunes, blasting from our family record player. Sometimes when Pops wasn’t on the road driving big trucks, he would be in his back room listening to his jazz records or Richard Pryor. When I turned 12 years old my mothers cancer returned and she passed away. Before she died she bought me a boom box and I always took it with me I guess it made me feel close to her in the physical. I’m a blessed dude because my Pops wasn’t a dead beat dad, and he was always there for me helping me deal with the impact of losing my mother at such a young age. when I turned 15 I began to get real crafty at rhyming but my school work fell off drastically. I used to sit behind my homegirl Rhonda Felix in class and write ryhmes instead of paying attention, I made moms a promise before she died, that I would graduate from high school so my 11th and 12th grade year I buckled down on my studies and received my diploma after high school I worked different jobs, attended a vocational and techincal school while I still persued my goal to land a record deal. Around 1994-95 I met Ron "Rough Draft" Williams at a late night session at Soulful Senate Studio through Marc "Jazzmarc" Belcher. Rough Draft dug my flow and I was mesmerized by the way he freaked beats on the SP-1200. We exchanged numbers and the very next day I drove to East Cleveland, Emily Ave And Rough Draft and I began experimenting with my vocal ability and sound inflections. It was RoughDraft’s unique Production savvy that created the PhunkWarlock sound that is present in my music today. You can’t stop chemistry or destiny when its meant to be.
