EAZY-E

Eric Lynn Wright (A Fan's Dedication Page!) APRIL 7th, EAZY-E DAY!

About Me

Eric Wright

Sept 7, 1963. Kathie and Richard Wright become proud parents of a baby boy then name Eric Wright. During this time the gang situation in Los Angeles was getting worse by the day. Crips and Blood gangs were forming everywhere in Compton and South Central L.A. In the winter of 1979 Eazy-E droped out of high school in the 10th grade. Eazy then gave in to the corrupt temptationz of his surroundings and began slanging drugz. This was the time period when crack hit the streetz and it was highly profitable. Any Thug from tha street could spend a few dollarz and make thousands hustling all day and night.
Eazy-E, after making a huge profit from slanging drugs soon realized that if he continued with his lifestyle he would eventually end up dead or in jail. He decided to form a record label called Ruthless Records, financed with some of his drug dealing profits.
Eazy-E was never a rapper. He was convinced by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube to rap the song Boyz N Tha Hood and everything took off from there. They sold the records straight out of their trunks promoting it anywhere they could. A very important moment for Eazy-E and N.W.A came when Greg Mack from KDAY "the worlds first all Hip Hop radio station" premiered Boyz N Tha hood on the airwaves. That helped to establish Eazy-E N.W.A and his Ruthless Records.
March 3 1987 he meets Jerry Heller. Jerry thinks eazy's song boyz n tha hood is one of the most important recordings since the begining of rock n roll. They both become partners and launch Ruthless Records.
The popularity of NWA and Eazy-E was spreading through out the country and changed the face of rap, hip hop music as we know it.
August 1988 N.W.A releases Straight Outta Compton. It sells more than 3 million units. If you imagine what this meant during this time period when hip hop was barely becoming main stream and alot of heavy metal was hittin. A group shoutin Fuck tha police , and talkin bout criminal activity that usually doesnt happen in good neighborhoods was invading the music industry: and it was here to stay.
During the same month of September, 1988. Eazy-E released Eazy Duz It. It eventually sells more than 2.5 million copies.
In 1990 N.W.A released 100 Miles and Runnin'EP. It sells more than 500,000 copies.
In May, 29, 1991 N.W.A releases Efil4zaggin. It sells more than one million copies and it also debuts at no. 2 on the pop charts. Eventually it becomes the first Gangster rap album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Charts on June 22, 1991.
On the summer of 1991 N.W.A breaks up. In August of 1991 Eazy filed a complaint against Dr. Dre, Death Row Records, and Executive Marion Suge Knight, because they forced him to release Dr. Dre from his contract with Ruthless Records.
On December 1992 Eazy-E releases his EP 5150 Home 4 Tha sick. It sold more than 500,000 copies.
October 26, 1993 The solo album It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa hits tha streets and sells more than 1.5 million copies. During this album we got the first glimps of BG Knocc Out and Gangsta Dresta, some real Muthaphukkin Gangsterz from the streets.
1994 was the year when Bone Thugs and Harmony were blowing up everywhere, it definately seemed like it was gonna be a very successful year for Eazy-E and Ruthless Records.
Towards the end of 1994 there was alot of talk about the new Brownside album and how they were gonna be the next Ruthless Records act. They even release the single under Ruthless: Gang Related. Its pretty cool how Eazy-E hooked up with some real gangstaz from the streets. Any other record label might have turn the other way, but this show how Eazy was always true to the streets.
April 1994 The Ruthless Radio show premiers on the beat in Los Angeles.I was a big fan of the Show . Towards the end of 1994 Eazy wasnt in the show no more. It just wasnt the same. One day i decided to call Ruthless Records. This was a few days after thanksgiving 1994. I called The number that appears on the sleeve of Eazy Duz it, and Jerry Heller answers. I ask him how are things going and he said ok, just a bit stressed here with all the arrangements for holydays. Keep in mind this was durin thanks giving and he was tellin me bout how stressfull it was with all the family gettin together. I asked him how Eazy was doing and he said good, just gettin some things together for the new year. He also told me to look out for Eazy's new double album and that was it. "keep in mind i was only17 yearz old and didnt know what to ask"
Febuary 24, 1995 Eazy-E is hospitalized for what was believed to be chronic asthma. March 16 95 the statement is made public that Eazy had contracted full blown aids. Sadly a few dayz later on March 26, 1995 The Hip Hop Thugsta, Eazy-E passes away due to complicationz of aids. This was a very sad sunday for the millionz of Eazy-E fanz world wide. Rest In Peace Eazy. Thank you for all you contributed to this world and all our lifes. U are trully appreciated and missed.
