Born in the Parish of Trelawney, Jamaica on the 10th March 1962 Matt came to the UK to be reunited with his Parents in December 1969. Ivan had immigrated to the UK shortly before Matt was born, Rhoda soon followed when Matt was 9 months old.
Like most young Parents at that particular time, and for others wishing to take up the challenges and employment prospects that were being "offered" to them by Countries such as England, America and Canada. These were just some of the decisions and sacrifices they had to make in order to try to build a better" Life for themselves and those of their immediate Family.
Matt and his elder Sister Angela, were therefore raised by their paternal Grandmother Emily Campbell.
As an Elder in the Church which She had helped to establish many years prior, Stamily(as she was known by)was a devoted Minister, Dress Maker and Farmer. She laboured relentlesly assisted only by the Powers of her Faith and her very strong belief in God and the Scriptures.
The rest as they say is History.
This showcase that I am presenting to you is a very personal collection of Songs that I have been putting together over the past 15 years or more. Many are written, all are performed by myself, some are obviously covers of the Late Great Right Honourable Robert Nesta Marley, who has probably influenced all the great Singers, Songwriters, Performers, Political and Social Reformists of the present day. His Songs have touched the Hearts and Souls of all who have listened to Him..myself included of course.
I just hope to come even a little bit close to the Great work and the so Powerful Legacy Bob has left us in His passing. I guess I am trying to reitterate some of those teachings of Peace, Love, Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding to the Youth and to all those who are seeking the TRUTH and the reasons for Our existance in this very short Life of Ours.
This particular Selection is really a "taster" of many more things to come. I am now, and always have.. been working on new material, my Life will always revolve around Music, which is without a doubt the inner- most center of my Universe. So please just judge this Show simply for what I am trying for..to SHARE da KNOWLEDGE. Therefore if you do get the time to relax and you juss wanna unwind and hear some Musical Consciousness, then instead of just "clicking" on n ting and jumping around fi try n get yuh own promotion..
why not tek some time out and listen keenly, willfully and loudly.
