About Me

NEW ALBUM
YELEN - LA LUMIERE - THE LIGHT
In this new album, "Yelen - La Lumière - The Light," Bafing Kul sings what everyone on earth deserves : justice, respect for human rights, equality, peace, love, food self-sufficiency, health, and education for everyone .
Artist activist for Humanity, he commits himself with his music as only weapon against ignorance and religion fundamentalism. Recorded in Bamako, Paris and Abidjan, this new album "Yelen - La Lumière - The Light" includes 11 tracks about very current themes that touch worldwilde.
After 4 years in France, he returned to Mali to record this second album, produced and mixed by Micael Sène, known especially for having worked with the Waillers, Alpha Blondy, Neg’ Maroons, TonTon David...
APPOLO REGGAE - The Other African Reggae
A native of Mali, Bafing Kul sings about the problems and the suffering of his people, his continent and the entire world.
"YELEN" (The Light - La Lumière) is the title of his second album, which can be as a light, a way to help people to control their own destiny and to be free without being indifferent to others’s problems and suffering.
Bafing Kul mixes his message of injustice, peace, and love with a soulful blend of traditional Malian rhythms and Reggae music. That’s what he named APPOLO REGGAE. With this album, Bafing Kul wants to share this cultural wealth with all the world.
Born in Bamako (Mali) in a noble family native of Segou, Bafing Kul, writer, composer, performer, chooses to concentrate on militant music derogating, thus, to the established traditions.
Early sensitive to the sufferings of girls employed in the families, he wrote "52" Bamako to denounce domestic slavery.
The singer is actively commited in the fight against female circumcision, a practice that still affects 80% of women in Mali and thousands around the world. This injustice between social and intimate, Bafing Kul denounces it in his album titles YELEN with the songs "Eh! Eh! Eh! Eh! "and" Little Girls From Africa ".
Since his arrival in France in 2002, he worked with the Commission for the Abolition of Sexual Mutilations (CAMS). With the support of this association he recorded his first album « Africa Paris ».
