Home Town Heroes

Four great bands from four great cities

About Me

From the people that have promoted fantastic indie music at gigs in the East Midlands over the last 2 years and secured residencies at the historic Vic Inn in Derby and Junction 7 in Nottingham with the successfull monthly Great Escape Nights, Mindvox (formerly Worldstage), bring you the Home Town Heroes Tour.
Each of four great bands from South Yorkshire and the East Midlands take turns at headlining in their own city over four successive Thursday nights. Starting at West Street Live in Sheffield on the 31st May moving onto Nottingham, Derby and concluding back in Yorkshire at The Priory night club in Doncaster. Look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events.
The Venkman Heist
comprising the ultra thin Kirk Yeomans on vocals and bass, Tom McGinley on guitar and vocals and Dan Coggan on drums, The Venkman Heist are slowly but surely setting the Sheffield scene alight. Despite only having been together for a few months, 'The Heist' has already played in some of the most renowned gig locations in Sheffield, including the Leadmill on several occasions. In the past they've been described as sounding like 'the Foo Fighters having sex with Reef in a dodgy hotel room' this is a threesome you DON'T want to miss!

Censored
From the lighter waving friendly 'Your Eyes Are Made of Gold' to the drum pounding percussion ballistics of 'Shake', it's pretty certain that Censored will have a tune or 5 you'll enjoy. Catchy, foot tapping beats, inventive bass licks and some soulful guitaring all combine to give the Ilkeston lads a unique and refreshing sound. Famous for their Great Escape nights in Nottingham, Nathan, Matt and Chris have also graced the Leeds Festival 2006 and have played on the Club NME tour - and with a single out soon the time is right to show Yorkshire and The Midlands EXACTLY what they can do! www.myspace.com/censoredville
Ten Foot Dolls
pure rock heaven from the Doncaster/Sheffiled band that's been 'going to 11' since November 2005. With the sultry Nicci on vocals that range from screeching rock vixen to velvet tongued temptress, the enigmatic Izzy on bass, a certified axe god in James and one of the most energetic drummers on the scene today in Jake, it's easy to see why Ten Foot Dolls gigs are so well attended. With a fan base stretching to every corner of the British Isles and their first single having just been released, come and give your ear drums a battering they'll thank you for!

The Torn
The Minnesota Fats aren't available to dash down the motorway to Doncaster on the 21st of June, so The Torn have agreed to step in and open proceedings for the night. Their energetic songs and enthusiastic perrformances from this 4 piece indi band are sure to entertain.

The Minnesota Fats
last but by no means least in our gallery of fine music are the Minnesota Fats. One of Derby's best up and coming young bands, comprising a Scottish singer and guitarist, a French drummer and an English bassist - Derby's musical version of the United Nations take indie to dizzying new heights with songs you'll be humming the whole way home. If you tell Ryan (the vocalist) he has nice shoes you may even get a copy of their latest EP for FREE, or at the very least get one of his famour 90 megawatt grins and the chance to buy him a drink - which he won't decline ;)
