About Me

..
You Are a Visionary Soul
You are a curious person, always in a state of awareness.
Connected to all things spiritual, you are very connected to your soul.
You are wise and bright: able to reason and be reasonable.
Occasionally, you get quite depressed and have dark feelings.
You have great vision and can be very insightful.
In fact, you are often profound in a way that surprises yourself.
Visionary souls like you can be the best type of friend.
You are intuitive, understanding, sympathetic, and a good healer.

My Interests

Music, Love, Life, Laughter, Learning, Burning (Man)...Adventures, risks, people who inadvertantly or advertantly cause me to grow, travelling, bearing witness to the insane beauty and chaos of our world, creation in many forms, self-education, community building, freeing information, reading, writing, slangin' vinyl, quantum and systems theory, the ethereal, the unreal, the real, the Great Mystery, attempting to solve the Not-So-Great Mysteries (the little ones), having as much fun as possible without endangering myself too much...And on that note, I love whisky and wit. Exploring the boundaries of my consciousness. An intelligent smoke. Bridging the gap between mental and musical waveforms. Staying up way too late at night. The sober mind is really quite full of surprises, too... but damn. If we're running out of time, like it feels a bit too frequently, I want to know that I enjoyed mine to the fullest. I'm not a fatalist... and I certainly believe in preparation for any possibility... but an old friend taught me to Live like there's no Tomorrow, Love like I've never been Hurt, and Dance like no one's Watching... (Big Ups Mikey, whereverywhere you are...) Yet, I also care deeply about treating my body as the temple it is. I am a healer at heart... just need to turn those powers toward myself more often. Anyway-- the party isn't going anywhere... but like someone once said... a party isn't a party if it happens every night. I hope as a community and family and culture, we can build on our music and art and talents and love, and not be held back by vices. I have high hopes. We reap what we sow...

I'd like to meet:

My maker. My match. Your mom.

Music:

Where do I begin? I think probably with The Orb... (they first guided me up---or was it down?--- my righteous pathway). Orbital and Rocker Hifi, too... we all go way back... and forward. DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Bjork, Ott, Simon Posford (Younger Brother, And of course... Shpongle), Bluetech, Tipper, Trafik, Drunken Immortals, Immortal Technique, India Arie, Sia, Dido, Hybrid, Timo Maas, AK1200, DB, Stakka/Skynet, Ming/FS, Roni Size, Trentemoller, Alex Smoke, Nubreed, Stanton Warriors, Vinyl Slingers, Bloodshit Riddims Productions, OnAndOn, Different Drummer, Quango, All-Good Funk Alliance, all my friends, almost all of whom are musically inclined(I could go on and on)...Yet... my biggest categorical obsessions to this day include, but are absolutely not limited to:Sick nu dub styles; broken down dark dirty beats of many flavors; orchestrated soundscapes of intelligent (and/or hallucinogenic) hope and beauty; conscious hip hop; classical; breaks; intelligent/atmospheric and dark drum and bass; house that doesn't suck (acid, dub, and tech); glitch and IDM; funk; reggae; dub; dub; dub; (did I mention dub?); dubstep, glitch hop, downtempo and triphop styles; eighties; the classic kings and queens of classic rock; actually, you know... now that I think about it, I basically love all music that I can feel in some way and relate to.And if there are turntables involved, I'll even listen to country music. However, I feel I must be honest and oust the hardcore, gabber, NRG, and yes.... (sorry to some of you folks out there whom I care about dearly)... even psytrance.

Movies:

Star Wars (been a geek for a long time runnin'), Lord of the Rings, Waking Life, Motorcycle Diaries, Human Traffic, Goonies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, The Dark Crystal, Labrynth, The Neverending Story, The Secret of Nimh, The Princess and the Warrior, The Animatrix, Hero, The Last Unicorn, The Breakfast Club, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Ace Ventura, Wayne's World, Crouching Tiger, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, What the Bleep, Cropcircles: Quest for Truth (watch it.), and of course, all the hours and hours of home/travel footage from the last few years...

Television:

Probably not. But the Simpsons, South Park, Adult Swim, and unbiased educational and news programming I do not consider to be wastes of time. (Okay, okay, so I watch Lost, too.)

Books:

Most recently: A Walk in the Woods (Bill Bryson). Another Roadside Attraction, Skinny Legs and All, Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas, and Villa Incognito (Tom Robbins). Memoirs of a Geisha. Be Here Now. The Ultimate Traveller's Guide to the Universe (by Zeek). Angels & Demons. Mutant Message from Down Under. The Celestine Prophecy. (Just re-read after 12 years.) Watership Down. Death and Dying (the Dalai Lama). Paulo Coehlo stories. The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. Neverwhere and American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

Heroes:

Your mom. My mom. Mike Foust (miss you brother). Drib (I wouldn't be me, I wouldn't be Here). Clint and Dove. Dawneka. Erik. Zack. Sarah Cosman. Stac. His Holiness. Her Holiness. Buttah. Rockers Hifi. Dr Alex Paterson. Tipper. The Brothers Hartnoll. Ott. Simon Posford. Evan Bluetech. Tom Robbins. Eddie Izzard. Droid. Mayo. Hans and Lyssa. Dan, Ally, and Biscuit, Quillan, Cate, Soren, Ryan Keys. Ryan Smith. Cyrus. All my friends, too numerous and beautiful to mention. My dad. My sis. Progressive and productive members of the new consciousness. Anyone who teaches peace and sustainability. Musicians and artists everywhere. Our elders. Their elders. Their elders. Your mom.
