About Me

found this travel layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotCommentsI am of the Southern folk, blues, gospel musical persuasion and background. My family has been inspired by all kinds of music over the years, but especially in the Southern folk, blues, and gospel areas of music. I had a paternal grandfather who played acoustic guitar and sang folk/blues/gospel. My father was a gospel quartet singer and guitarist. My paternal grandmother played the harp during her younger years. One of my father's brothers was a member of The Soul Brothers Six quite a few years ago now, (known for songs such as "Some Kind of Wonderful"), and he is now performing gospel songs and accompying himself on guitar. I personally started playing acoustical guitar in 1988 after having had the chords emerge through several nocturnal dreams I began to have. I suppose that with this many family members who played stringed instruments while singing, that eventually, I would pick up on this talent rather naturally, but I found it very intriguing that of all my biological siblings, I the oldest sibling and female in the family inherited the gift of playing the guitar in the southern traditional manner and fashion.

My Interests

-Acoustic Guitar -Singing (southern gospel, folk, blues) -All variety of interests in music (Smooth Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Rock, Classical (Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi).Other Interests: Writing and journaling (14 journals since 1984). Essential Oils (medical grade oils for health & well-being). -Arts & Crafts (designing braided rugs, sewing, etc.) -Reading (Psychology books, Self-help books, mystery books, dramas, suspense novels). -Gardening. -Home Decor & Design. -Biking; walking; outdoor recreation. -Plays, Theater arts/sciences.

I'd like to meet:

New friends who play the guitar...southern folk/blues/gospel soul, jazz, classical, etc. as a means of expression to the world. I would like to exchange views on the various short-cuts for chording and just learning the latest techniques for playing the guitar and the mandolin, which I will be learning soon. Thanks for any tips you can give. I tend to want instant gratification, yet I KNOW it's not reality to learn anything that way, especially when it comes to something like learning to read music! I would like for it to be as painless as possible though...that's just me being me! (lol)
