I was born and raised in London, England. I..m classically trained graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as a vocalist/singing teacher.
I..ve never been one to stick to a genre and- being inspired by all kinds of music- believe that if it moves you-go with it! My teachers had a hard time trying to convince me that I should only sing Opera and soon realised that wouldnt be the case after I put together a vocal jazz trio and went out gigging in the London Nightclubs until four in the morning!
But I have to hand it to them - they let me do my thing..
A fantastic time that will never be forgotten! When I was offered the leading role in the Vienna Kammeropers rock opera ..Carmen Negra..- I jumped at the chance. It gave me the opportunity to discover another country and language and got great reviews! I havent looked back since...;) Performing in various shows such as ..Aint Misbehaving....Jesus Christ Superstar,
..Little Shop of Horrors.. ..Porgy and Bess.. ..Tribute to Black Music.. and..Hair.. broadened my horizons considerably and between guesting in various Big Bands, doing adverts and singing backing vocals for the incredible Ms Gloria Gaynor covered almost every style! I..m also a songwriter and enjoy vocal arranging which can be heard on many productions from classic to dance including the cover version of Ben.E Kings hit ..Supernatural Thing.. Count Basic whose first hits ..Jazz in the House.. and ..All Time High.. were co-composed and sung by me, Prime Cut -where I share the lead vocals with Eddie Cole a great singer and a great friend - and my own band The Black Rose Quartet where I just let my imagination run wild!! As one of the founding members of The Rounder Girls -a vocal group based in Vienna - I can honestly say that - after 14 years of singing together-I belong to a sisterhood thats stronger than any marriage-arguments and all! We had the priviledge of representing Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden in 2000 and had a ball- good food too- an absolute must for every Rounder Girl! ;)) My career has taken me around the world to ,France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Canada, America, and Hong Kong. Here..s to the next step...and all those who have accompanied me along the way... Paintings from a selection of "AFRICA and ABSTRACT" by Lynne Kieran MY ARTWORK Those who know me well know that I love paints, paper, pens etc and can't pass a shop full of shiny - or edible - things without stopping to stare in the window going 'ooh and aah' like a child at Christmas! I enjoy watching things develop and creating something on a blank canvas is almost as good as baking a chocolate cake (Yum!) and getting to lick the spoon -
it makes me feel good!! It's my special past-time - one other being the cinema - and if what I do appeals to others - great!! It's totally relaxing for me and is inspired by AA - no- not Alcoholics Anonymous (did someone say Caipirinha?) but Africa and Abstract. These 'Artworks' have been done over the last two years, much to the delight of my mother who has one of my first Abstracts from 1983 stuck, very proudly I might add, with cellotape to her wardrobe door in London - Oh Fame!!
It's faded, curling at the edges - but still there!! I've had a great time doing them. Here are few-Look around - and enjoy!! www.roundergirls.at
