About Me

Scintillamancer represents a diverse output of music and noise. Sometimes I am interested in dark Industrial ambient overtones and other times I like to explore lighter shades of sound. I find it difficult to restrict my sonic wanderings !
For me, the process of composition is one of evolution and discovery. I find that all areas of artistic endeavour share very similar qualities and at the very least, originate in the same timeless imaginative core. This alone makes the whole process essentially ego-less and I believe that creation itself, while personal in application and expression, is universal in scope and power.
Of course, MySpace can be a very ego driven venture and I have been cynical of this area. I don't push myself ormy music onto other people, but I do like to connect with other artists in all areas of creativity, so I usethis site as a vehicle for networking and digital friendships.
But here's a few tips: I will not add random bands who want an ego boost and an advertising space. HTML isturned off in my comments section so don't think you're plastering this site with banner ads ! Oh and, if youdon't really want to share anything of any value with me, then sod off ! I have to downsize my friends list asit is because I'm tired of getting requests from 'friend collectors'.
I want to communicate with people here who might share common interests. So, if you read or hear something youlike, then please message me !Here are some things, both past and present, that inspire me and form my musical world view:
Unusual textures, rust, urban decay, zombie movies, HP Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, William Blake, 'Ozymandias'by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Sci-Fi and Speculative Fiction, Gnosticism, Conspiracy theories, real life ghoststories, unexplained phenomena, heroic and dark fantasy, fantastic worlds, outback Australia, nature...
Some musical things I would love to achieve:
* Film soundtracks for Zombie/Horror/Sci-Fi movies.
* Performing as part of a band and being able to share ideas and sounds and enjoy the live experience
* Working with a vocalist
