Born in the township of Thembisa near Johannesburg in 1973, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa was raised to the sounds of Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Moses had a ravenous musical hunger.
His music could be many things: witty, beautiful, probing; and he understood, absorbed and made his own every musical influence that came his way, from UK drum'n'bass, through programming his Korg Trinity, John Cage-style prepared piano, Kwaito, Fela Kuti's funk, and of course the vast, proud heritage of South African jazz.
