Ambient Progressive Rock Music

About Me

My name is Gareth Thomas, and I’m a UK based guitarist, musician and experimentalist.
My first flirtation with music began around the age of eleven, when I started taking piano lessons. However, this was short lived, primarily due to my boredom with the set routine of classical training.
Luckily I discovered guitar a few years later, and my musical adventure took off. The songs I have on this page represent just a small part of my journey, and hopefully I will add more in the future.
To date I have recorded 1 full-length record, titled ‘The Theory’, and one shorter release, an EP titled ‘The Pariah.’ Up until recently both were available for purchase via my Myspace page, and via my Website. However, I have now opted to make them both freely downloadable. (There are still some CD versions of ‘The Theory’ left over at CDBaby though)
I would describe the music I write as Ambient, Progressive, Experimental, and sometimes completely off the wall. Some people like a song to have a predictable structure, unfortunately, that’s not something I like to adhere to. That being said, I do like to include a lot of melody and harmony. So, I’m a contradiction of sorts.
What do I have planned for the future?
Well, I am currently working on ideas for another record, along with investigating other avenues to pursue music. Someday, I would like to be good enough, and lucky enough to score music for the film and videogame market.
To follow my continuing journey, keep dropping back here, and hopefully as time permits, I will be able to offer updates on my progress.
Below is a selection of reviews and other paraphernalia I have collected on my journey to date: -
Self designed Advertisment which appeared in Classic Rock Magazine
Some Review Snippets of 'The Theory.'
'An impressive, progressive rock journey through many instrumental landscapes, featuring superb musicianship from Gareth Thomas. It's a pleasure to hear a talented musician work his craft.' - Daily Vault
'Flawless guitar instrumentals, bombastic rhythms and electronic tweaks and wizardry. An instrumental opus from one of Britains only metal inspired musical virtuosos.' - RockMidgets
'Mind-Blowing stuff that sends shivers up your spine. This really is intriguing and original sounding music.' - Sugarbuzz
'Original and Professional, a musical journey from a talented musician dedicated to his art.' - Metal4Life
'Classy and interesting Instrumental, with a great range of Styles and Moods.' - HMAS
