Mike is a six-string bassist with the instrumental rock group LoNero based in San Jose, California. Mike is from a very musical family. A long line of brass musicians and vocalists on his Fathers side, as well as several vocalists, keyboardists, and guitarists on his Mothers side. At the age of six Mike began study on the trombone, which he continues to this day. At age fifteen, he decided to take up the bass. Self taught on bass through high school, he continued musical studies at Chabot College in Hayward, California under Bay Area jazz educator Frank Sumares and local bassist Cindy Browne.
Mike has shared the stage with many great performers including Leslie Uggams, Mick Gillette, Gordon Goodwin, Hermans Hermits, Greg Abate, Eddie Palmieri, Matt Catingub, and Ernie Watts. Mike has also performed for audiences in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Hawaii, and the United Kingdom.
Mikes discography includes three CD recordings with the Salvation Army brass band in Concord, California, a Christmas Jazz cd "Holiday Chops" with the Ohlone "Chops" Big Band, one with the rock trio Solcraft and most recently, LoNero's debut release "Relentless" which includes a multi track bass ensemble piece titled "Morning".
Mike has truly found his home in LoNero, a group that writes innovative yet catchy material and gives an exciting live performance.
Mike is a member of Washburn's "Emerging Artists", the "Friends of Peavey" and uses AccuGroove Cabinets with Eden Amplification.
