- What are we all about?Tayst.3 guys from the sleepy ol surf town of St. Augustine, Florida tryin to put some brown, organic, heart, soul, culture and groove back into modern rock.Tayst formed 4 1/2 years ago out of the ashes of the short-lived rock/rap hey day of the early millennium. Themselves the former rhythm section of a rock/rap experiment gone bad, 190 Octane, the 3 members parted ways with their rapper/front man to create music strong in rhythm, beats and melodic vocals.in short, something the hos can shake their asses to!To explain the Tayst sound is to visualize the cities of St. Augustine and Jacksonville thrown into a blender. Jacksonville, known for its harder, heavier edge modern music scene (ala Limp Bizkit, Cold) is present in Taysts music in rock anthems such as Undertow and Another Year. Hints of St. Augustine, known for its laid-back, surf-town, Florida Keys type-vibe, can be heard in the smoked-out, reggae tune Better Off and Keep On Breathin. In truth, Tayst reaches all over for inspiration and down into places like South Florida with the latin/carribean inspired tune Bonita Seniorita and even hangs with the club kids, in the sweaty, dirty rave warehouses in the trace-like tune Life. Tayst is perfect summertime music.and can keep the ladies warm in the winter. What are you going to hear with Tayst? I bit of everything. Yeah, yeah.I knowIve heard it all before, lots of bands claim to be fusion bands, you say. While many bands also write fusion type music.keep this in mind: anyone can jump in the kitchen and throw a bunch of ingredients into the pan and call it fusionbut if they dont know what theyre doing, it probably tastes like shit. However, throw in the right stuff in the right amounts and you get one hell of a mealget it : Tayst and Meal? Were a Taysty Meal?!! you gotta reach deep man, deep.just take a few more tokes till you get it. Alright, were cornballs, but you get the drift.So, what about the shows? Tayst has cultivated a core following of Taysties who show tons of love for the band at shows up and down Florida. Tayst has sold over 1000 CDs of its debut CD Seasoned to Perfection. Each show is never like the last (ask Ryan Lavigne!). Tayst has sort of a jam band feel, where each live song goes with the vibe of the night.it might stay on course..or go to a completely different place. The fun part is watching Ty take the song in one direction.and Chris violently trying to bring it back, with Ryan oblivious to it all. Where theres friction theres creation, right?So youre thinking of going to a Tayst show? What will you get? Well, that depends on your point of view. Well tell ya what you wont get. You wont get some angry, angst ridden kid screamin his kidneys on out on stage because hes dealing with issues like the time his dad said he hits like a pussy. You wont get a band who thinks since Pantera broke up its their mission to fill the void. You wont get a band whos too tight jeans, eye liner and dreary lyrics make you want to jump off the 312 bridge.Tayst is for the lover of music and lifeboth the ugly and the beautiful.Not too long ago, after one of our shows this guy came up and said, Dude, Ive waiting for this type of music to come around for a long time.We hope you feel the same!Cheers!Tayst
