Freya Casey was born and raised in Germany and was was exposed to professional music even before birth. Her mother was a professional classical guitarist and teacher at the Frankfurt conservatory, her father an ambitious singer and songwriter. At age 6 she started playing the piano, mosty by ear, and already began creating her own compositions. Like her dad, she already had a talent for writing lyrics and the vision for great music. At age 15 she started playing the flute and attended the conservatory, however, she decided that the flute wasn’t what she would want to persue professionally. After working as a travel agent for a few years, she decided it was "now or never" if she ever wanted to study music to become a professional musician. She received a full scholarship at SMU in Dallas, although she had never before had any formal voice lessons. After graduating with her B.A. in Vocal Performance magna cum laude, she moved back to Germany and received her soloist diploma at the opera school in Stuttgart in 2006. In 2007 she bought a workstation, a Korg TR, and again began composing songs, this time attempting to record them in her modest little "studio" of a workstation and a PC and a mic. Current Projects
Besides working as a voice teacher and coach and performing classical music in Germany and Europe, Freya is working on several other projects with new original music. An album of her songs "Klassik meets Pop" is in the works, as well as an album together with Michael Nesselrath. In the project "Balance of Power" Michael is functioning as composer and producer, Freya as vocalist and writer of the lyrics. Check out the tracks that are out so far HERE .
