About Me

Casimir Liberski: Born in Brussels, Belgium 1988. Casimir starts to play the piano self taught, learning tunes by ear at the age of 5, mostly jazz, blues, pop and classical . His first major influences were Thelonious Monk, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Keith Jarrett, and Nino Rota. At the age of 13, Casimir took piano lessons with the Belgian jazz pianist and professor Nathalie Loriers who introduced him to the music of Bill Evans which was an enormous musical revelation for him allowing him to access the vast harmonic world of Jazz and classic piano. Casimir Liberski’s first trio was founded when he was about 13 and started gigging around in Belgium and France. Casimir also composed the soundtrack for the film Bunker Paradise by Stefan Liberski, his father. Casimir’s most important music encounter was with Ornette Coleman when he was around 14. He kept visiting him regularly at his loft in NY to learn about harmolody and play long jam sessions together. Another beatufiul artist Casimir admires and had the amazing chance to become close friend with over the years, is the Japanese pianist Masabumi Kikuchi. Mr Kikuchi has transmitted him a lot of knowledge and introduced him most of 20th century classical music Casimir now adores and study. Casimir took some private lessons with the very well known pianist Brad Mehldau in NY and studied privately or in workshops with musicians like Sal Mosca, Connie Crothers, Jeff Ballard, Steve Coleman, and many Belgian musicians. Casimir is currently attending Berklee College of Music where he was given the prestigious Presidential Scholarship.
