Konstantinos A. Sakkas

Konstantinos Sakkas lives in Athens, Greece. From his early years he is all around arts and especially music since he studied in this field for more than 13 years (Atheneum Music Academy – prof.: Alla Hallapsis). Writing poetic texts and composing music all these years, as though as trying to figure out a way of expression through arts, he decided to involve professionally with that almost “self-made”. Since 2005 he worked occasionally as performer, director’s assistant, production assistant & production manager, media relations, etc. in productions with organisms such as Megaron (Athens Concert Hall), Athens and Epidaurus Festival, National Theatre of Greece, Municipality of Athens, Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Mpenaki Museum, Greek National Opera, Institute of Vocal Arts & Research, Greek Choreographers Society, Zouka Dance Company, and many theatres. At the same time he entered the “newspaper racket” and started to work in the monthly free-press newspaper “Wanted News” (2005-2006); from 2006 until now days he is a special editor in “Highlights” magazine writing about theatre, dance, and music. In the field of direction, after several non-professional productions, he made his first step with a “work in progress” on Shakespeare’s work “Macbeth”, a production composed from 20 young actors and companions (2006). At the same year he promotes the company “Diadromes Politismou” (Routes of Culture), a non profit organisation, with which he organizes the “Going Youth Festival 2007” in “Roes Theatre” (23/04 – 30/04/2007). This very first in its kind festival supported 12 young groups in the fields of music, theatre, dance, and photography; one of the theatrical productions was the play “Number 17”, written and directed by Konstantinos Sakkas. In 2008 Diadromes Politismou are producing two theatrical productions and two festivals, and K. Sakkas is presenting “Number 17” (Second Version) in Bios from 27/02/08 up to 26/03/08.
