On his first demo he sings and plays guitar with a passionate intensity. ‘Elderberry’ is delivered with a delicacy that recalls the introspective work of Nick Drake, and the broodiness of Damien Rice. ‘Ecoutez’ is a much more sprightly affair, if not exactly any more optimistic than the first track. On ‘Wisdomtooth’ an attractive guitar riff underpins a song that the likes of Bert Jansch would work miracles with. The cover design features Whyte’s original comic book hero, a theme he’d like to pursue through all his artwork. Very impressive for a debut, but six tracks is three too many, and with the competition out there quite fierce, the Boy will have to pull off a few tricks to get the attention he deserves. ''
