"In a vast wasteland of valley spanning the Inland Empire, one can only find Hollister after Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch after Ambercrombie & Fitch. This is a concrete consumer empire, a sad kingdom of monotonous culture from meaningless fads. Indeed, my hopes for something real in this colorless region had been vanquished. However, January 9, 2008 saw a rebirth. I was taken by a friend of mine to a show in which The Shock would be performing. Before the band performed, another group entitled Midnight in Montreal performed, and just about confirmed my woes of bland voiceless Inland Empire "music". However, The Shock then performed. I was amazed by their delivery of songs, the lead singer Matt had a spectacular vocalization of his lyrics, which seized my ears forcibly with a demand for my attention. I was enthralled. Meanwhile, the bassist Scott’s hair flew about his head rapidly with a tremendous fury as he shredded his guitar whose strap was more than eager to break away from him, possibly due to the force and splendor of his rocking. In back, Darrel the drummer had become lost in his pounding beat that vibrated the building. In front, however, was the grandest spectacle. Matt and Scott performed stunts that could do no less then cause the audience to scream in an orgasmic roar. This brings me to the fans. The Shock has great chemistry with their audience, who will on more than one occasion throw up The Shocker in their praise of the band. This band brought back what rock and roll had lost at the end of the 1970’s: Rock itself. Their sound brings back the good days of Jim Morrison, and cool beats that had strange vocal delivery and soft, tempting guitar and bassist beats. If you ever are lost in the Inland Empire, you can find your footing in a concert from The Shock"
