About Me

MyGen Profile Generator
Recording Media (Entertainment)
Pinhole Camera to Webcam Cinema to Video –from pier side flick viewers to the days of cable TV and then the era of You Tube, Myspace and SeeMeTv.
Recorded History once relied on human depiction and description: art and writing. But with the advent of recording technology, suddenly the moment could speak for itself... or so it seemed – the objectivity of recording media is somewhat false, for there is always the start and the stop, the chosen frame.
The digital age has offered somewhat of a resolution – the democratization of these chosen perspectives – now it is not only the media elite that record and exhibit history.
But media preservation remains an issue. At a 2006 conference, Deanna Marcum from the Library of Congress noted: “We must remember that the most basic preservation techniques—protective storage, climate control, disaster planning—remain as important as the newest mass deacidification cylinders and digital migration methods. The future of preservation also depends on our ability to keep ourselves from being overwhelmed by digitization. Right now our ability—and desire—to create digital resources is far outrunning our ability to preserve them.”

Submissions Wanted !!
We want you to be a part of the biggest indoor screen installation in the world. The point of I-REZ is to pose questions about global matters that affect us all and look for answers – in the community, in technology, in our use of media and in ourselves.
We are embedding thousands of clips into the main images which are all based on a storyboard exploring global issues and making connections with Manchester – the first "Modern" city – where the event takes place.
We want your stories and ideas to be part of the video mosaic that tells the wider story about our world – so please submit !
Imagine youtube x500 set to the beats of some great DJ’s ….
Please read more about the event here and on Manchester Festival site and have a look at our submissions guidelines.
Then go get or make your clips and submit them, alerting the FRIEND that is closest in theme to your submission.
If your vid gets accepted, your friend will let you know. We’ll be posting the best submissions up on the various friends’ pages…
