With his many years of experience in the industry as a performer and his love of music it was a natural progression for him to move into song writing and producing. WESTCOAST is a production and management company who are fully committed to working closely with artists to develop there skills within the industry and record, produce and present them to major and indie record labels. WESTCOAST is currently workin on projects with various artists one of which is JAMIL currently finishing of his album FIRST STRIKE in the studio as we speak - to be released on 16th APRIL 2007 on TUFF'E'NUFF RECORDS put it on your to buy list !!! --------- ONE OF WESTCOAST'S ARTISTS is "JAMIL" -------- Jamil was born in Liverpool, UK, home of the beatles and many other famous names and faces who have and continue to have a strong influence in the world of music even today. At the tender age of 3 he emigrated to Toronto, Canada with his family were he spent most of his early years growing up. After travelling through Canada he ended up living in the US, this is were he developed a passion for the arts, especially music. Music became a natural reflex to Jamil as his skills evolved and developed on various instruments everything from the piano to the horn and even the guitar, at this point he was playing different genres of music to develop his skills. Unfortunately at the age of 11 these skills were to be put on a backburner for a while as his living situation became more turbulent after a family split. This lead him to pursue other avenues and unfortunately layed his talents to bed for a short period of time, but not forever. After a number of years of living an unsettled nomadic lifestyle on the streets, Jamil rediscovered his passion for music. He was influenced by different musical genres and having come from a musical background, his uncle ralph having worked and shared a studio with BABYFACE and an other uncle TONY RILEY who was a drummer for the supremes, Jamil grew up on 70’s and 80’s soul music which influences him and many other people even today. Starting out with a few performances with some of his bretherans in Canada 'Peep Game’ he began performing alongside some big names as an opening and support act were he continued to further craft his skill. As family commitments began to take control after the birth of his daughter his travels began again, as he was to move back to the country and city that bore him LIVERPOOL, UK and to live their on a more permanent basis "The boy has returned home". After meeting MARC LEBRETTO he signed to WESTCOAST MUSIC PRODUCTIONS and along with Marc, Jamil has supported some well known names such as COOLIO on his european tour, ANOTHER LEVEL, LAUREN HILL and many more well known names. He is currently working on establishing himself as a U.S. & U.K. artist with a twist, due to his N.American and cross atlantic influences showcasing his unique sound and poetic skills.
