Sky'Money, at the ripe age of 25 is here to leave his mark. Dropping it down with vocals so smooth, he draws comparisons to a young Jay Z. Inspired by such rappers as Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Jay Z , rapper Sky'Money feels that these icons have persevered because of their abilities to speak poetically about real life hardships in a way that makes people listen. As a youngster, Sky'Money moved to the United States from his native country Eritrea, with his familys hope for a better life. We came to the States in 1984, my family says we came to America for a better life but I think I came here so I can pursue my dreams. Growing up facing challenge after challenge, his inspiration for music came at the early age of infancy when he faced near death due to poverty. After barely clinging to life when he stopped breathing for a short time, he was brought back in what many would call a miracle. It was this event that Sky'Money looks back upon and has decided not to take life for granted and to shoot for his dreams. Although a relative newcomer to the scene, hes a pro when it comes to rhyme, as evidenced from his many awards as freestyle champion. It is this professionalism and hard work that he hopes will one day reward him with a prestigious Grammy Award. Out of the Seattle hotbed, an area that the country has started to notice more for its hip hop talent than grunge, I live in the west but rap like from the east, he states with a tone of confidence in his words. Already a multitude of songs written and recorded under his belt, his true moment to shine comes while performing on stage in front of an audience when he picks up a microphone and lets his creativity flow. From his abilities to freestyle, he brings out a poetic side that details his everyday life. Growing up, my high school years were both fun and tough at the same time. My father was not around so I had to help out and be a father figure to my younger brother, while at the same time finish school and graduate. Sky'Money recalls. This was just another step in the road of a tough life, another step forward to the many challenges he faced while growing up. Helping him face these difficulties is his desire for making music. I just go by the day thinking about music and what I can do to make a change in the hip hop world. Sky'Money states, Music is like a high to me I feel the need for it like how a crack head feels the need for his pipe. When I wake up in the morning I rap I rap when I go to sleep, I can't live with out music in my life. Sky'Money hopes to follow in the footsteps of Seattle legends Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, musicians who took the music world by storm and left legacies that will remain in place for many more years to come.
