What You See Is What You Get

About Me

Stan Anderson is one of the finest one-man entertainment packages on the road today. He is a veteran entertainer with many years' experience working clubs on both sides of the 49th parallel, and has also racked up some impressive achievements in songwriting and recording. His best known Country song is probably "Sing It to the Monkeys", his 1981 hit written as a reply to the underground barroom anthem "The Rodeo Song". The song received considerable airplay in radio markets across Canada. Stan has also written parodies to many hit songs, as well as many good serious originals, some of which he has recorded. Several of his more recent songs have received considerable airplay on various Internet and overseas radio stations. In the past, Stan has sometimes done concerts with entertainers far better known than himself, such as Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Jr., and Jerry Lee Lewis. He has also worked as lead guitarist for songwriter-singer Becki Bluefield, and the late Marg Osburne of Don Messer's Jubilee fame. More recently, on October 19, 2007, Stan was the opening act for the Edmonton concert of popular Canadian troubadour Fred Eaglesmith. On November 24th, he played lead guitar with Arnie Mack's backup band in concert at Wetaskiwin Alberta's Rainbow Corral with one of his early music heroes, Grand Ole Opry legend Jack Greene. In addition to singing, and playing guitar and keyboards, Stan is also very good at programming digital backup tracks (MIDI), a skill which serves him just as well on stage as it does in the recording studio. This way he gets just as full a sound on live performances (including vocal harmonies) as he does on his recordings, and is able to work in rooms which would normally require a 3-4 piece band. Also, he is able to vary his repertoire based on the age of his audience, and whether the venue he is playing is for listening or dancing. While Country and Country Rock is his favorite music, he can also include some old Rock 'n' Roll for the younger set, or an old time waltz or polka if he is playing for seniors or a Legion crowd. For a guaranteed good time, drop in and catch a Stan Anderson performance some time. You'll enjoy yourself!
