The Muse Project had it's very first show in May, 2003 at El Cid in Silverlake,CA. A group of friends deciding to get together and do some dancing, make jokes and sing songs has turned into an unforgettable journey. Ever since that first show, which was composed of an all woman cast, The Muse Project ran as a monthly show at El Cid. Once finding the man of their dreams, Alex Staggs became the first male to share the stage with the Muse Ladies. Over time, many people have contributed their time and talents to make The Muse Project what it is today. We could never do what we do without the help of Mr. Shane Laser working the music, projections, singing, playing piano, bringing sweet treats, and on and on... Now we find ourselves still making art and laughing about how far we have come together over the past 5 years! From El Cid to King King, Bordello to San Fransisco and beyond, as well as private parties, and videos, It's only getting better!
The Muse Project Mission Statement:
The purpose of The Muse Project is to provide an outlet for performers to showcase their original works in an unbiased setting.A core group, along with guest artists performs an ever-changing monthly show. In three years no show has ever been the same.
We never take ourselves too seriously, but we always take the audience seriously. Each month the show brings in new works
which are innovative, funny, smart, real, unpredictable and empowering.
The Muse Project has always stayed true to its roots because of perserverance, hard work and a strong support
for one another's ideas.
