I was still finishing up my degree in English, but it was getting pretty close to the end and I didn't really know where I was going to take my life there after. The first site that popped up was MKC Beauty Academy. I was scanning over it, wishing that I could do that, that I could be there, doing that...I took the little test that pops up, thinking nothing of the fact that I had unknowingly, or rather subconsciously, taken my first step toward the life I wanted more than anything...
...AND now I'm here!! It's been almost two years since I hauled all my crap and my gato Thorton to LA to do this...to be a professional MAKEUP ARTIST.
I've found myself doing makeup for so many random things and on so many different faces, and I have seriously loved every minute of it. I could not imagine my life to be anything other than what it is. today. at this very moment.
You will not find another artist who is more passionate about their life and their craft. I say this because I know what my life was, and what it could've been had I not googled "makeup artist" that one fortuitous day. Makeup was a passion only half realized back then. I knew I loved it, but that was where I let it stop.
Margaret Kimura is amazing. The instructors at MKC are amazing. The friends that I made there and whom I have stayed close with are amazing. I could not have gone to a better place to become the person and professional that I am today. I have worked in venues such as FILM, PRINT, CABARET, BODY PAINTING, SPECIAL EVENTS, WEDDINGS, RUNWAY...If it's not listed, then it's in the works. I am professional, ethical, respectful, on time, quite sanitary :), and above all else...a MAKEUP ARTIST...
