elektrohandel was found in 1997/98 by niels hesse, marco drewes and ralf weber. after the second release on IC/DigIt Music
marco and niels wanted to try some different styles, that "didnt fit" with what they
produced on "IC", so they changed their name from simple surnames "hesse/drewes" to
Elektrohandel wich was the idea of ralf weber, as their funny and experimental style fitted that name a bit more, besides the fact that the..ve traded midi files and DAT..s with samples.
after releasing a few single tracks on vinyl & cd at the Bremen undergroundlabel "Voodoobeats", niels got back in touch with his teenage idol, "psyche" singer darrin huss and produced the "carousel begins" remix for psyche..s hit "sanctuary" wich
got released worldwide. niels also gave darrin a cd with "unfinished" elektrohandel songs
to stay in analogy to a happening back in 1991, when niels met darrin for the very first time after an anne clarck concert. back in those days, niels gave darrin a (crappy:o) remix tape with a few versions of psyche..s hit from 1986 "unveiling the secret"...the tracks 10 years later impressed darrin a bit more than the weird tape, so he decided to produce a solo record with elektrohandel and call the project "lounge". the cd
"elegance" is the result of this colaboration as well as two more released remixes for psyche plus a remix-ep of the song "everyday".
between 2004 and 05 elektrohandel released two long play records called "tanzstunde" and "schwarz" on novatune as well as the colab-ep "chillout rapsqip" with albanian rappers "gx" and solo projects. for reasons these records are out of stock now but a "best of collection" is available on mp3.de (click image to visit the shop and catch a free mp3 ! )
