About Me

Get Your Own! | View Slideshow Eric Owens-- was born and raised in Albuquerque NM, Started his musical journey early learning how to play Drums and various other percussion instruments. Around the fifth grade he joined his school choir and began competing in vocal competitions across New Mexico. Under the tutelage of his Middle school choir director George Collear he was exposed to Bass, Guitar, Tenor Guitar, Keyboards and Sound Reinforcement. Collear took him to his first concert "Return to forever". That concert featuring Stanley Clarke, Lenny White, Al DeMiola, and Chick Corea changed his view of music for the rest of his life. With that concert fresh in his mind Eric began to practice and listen to anything he could get his hands on. "All music became my instructor." I would turn on the radio and try to play every song that came on. I got to the point that I could hear a song once and play it close to note for note. If I thought the music became too easy I would to make up my own line to the song." At 14yrs old Eric was playing in the local bars and clubs around Albuquerque. When he graduated high school, Eric toured with several road bands before landing a gig with Quincy Street Records underground alternative band New London. After 4 years with New London he joined Local southern rockers Six Gun Overload who opened shows for Foghat, Nazareth, and Molly Hatchet among many others. Eric began doing studio session work in and around New Mexico and playing in local bands until 1996 when he was asked to audition for Cardinal Label recording artist Jill Rivera and is still with her today. In 2002 Eric began studies with fusion bassist Gary Willis of Tribal Tech. Currentley Eric is playing with Ken Valdez, Alex & the Rockets, Delta Devils,B.O.B (Brothas On Bass), Clinics and working on his solo recording "Spin"--- Groove Authority EntertainmentKnown for his ability to lock into a groove, while creating a solid foundation for various artist to create. Eric is in high demand for session work, performance, instruction, consulting and producing. Eric is always changing hats, but make no mistake he is all about the bottom end.
