About Me

I created my MySpace profile in January of 2006. At that time I had just quit my band, deciding that I needed to get out of the nightclub scene. I had decided that I would like to use my music to serve and glorify God. I didn't really know where that would lead. I inadvertently came across a management company that develops Christian artists. I started the audition process not really knowing exactly what to expect if I passed. I had written several songs in my lifetime, but never considered myself to be a prolific songwriter. Part of the audition was to send in 2-3 songs. I had one song that I had already started recording and just needed to complete, and I decided to attempt writing my first Christian song. The result was "I Trust in You". After recording I Trust in You, I decided that regardless of the outcome of the audition I was going to continue to write songs, and record a Christian CD. I truly believe that the songs that I was writing were inspired by God. I was writing more songs than I ever had before. I ended up passing the audition and was made an offer. After considering that offer, I didn't feel that it was the right thing for me at the time. But because I passed the audition and the writing and recording were going so well, I started to feel ambitious. I started down a road that in retrospect I believe was a detour from God's path for me. My goal became to secure a record deal. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with getting a record deal and glorifying God through your music as a Christian recording artist. I believe that the Contemporary Christian and Christian Rock is a blessing. But instead of allowing God to lead my musical direction I was striving for what I wanted for myself. After taking a hard look at myself and at the Christian music industry, I have had to take a step back. I feel that the Christian music industry has veered away from what it started out as, and is really supposed to be about, which is ministry. It seems that it has become more about glorifying the artist than glorifying God. It just doesn't seem right that the same criteria that is used for secular music such as image, age, etc. has also become standard for Christian music. It should be about the music and the message.I've realized that instead of trying to use my music to satisfy my own ambitions, that I should be seeking to serve God and allow Him to use me in the way that he knows is best. I believe that He has me where he wants me right now and that he will open up opportunities in His time. I trust that He will lay upon my heart what He wants me to pursue. I also believe that when He opens up music ministry opportunities, that my focus should be on ministry and glorifying Him and not on myself. Whether it is His will for me to have a career in music or to remain where I am now, I am submitted to His will.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you".
Mathew 6:33
