For as long as she can remember, Stepahnie Chason’s life has been filled with music. The daughter of a respected Southern Gospel singer, she spent much of her young life with her dad and his band Higher Call traveling throughout Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. She first sang at age two. When she was eight years old she wrote her first song – Some Glorious Day. By 16, she had begun singing and traveling regularly with Higher Call.
But it was around that same age that Stephanie was drawn by an amazing force that drew her closer to God – Worship music.
“When I heard singers like David and Nicole Binion and Crystal Lewis, I was drawn to the music of those artists,†Stephanie said. “In their voices there was an anointing. Their music has a substance that you can actually feel. It changes you. It almost takes your breath away.â€
After discovering Worship, she knew she wasn’t destined to follow in her father’s Southern Gospel musical footsteps. Stephanie had discovered her own path.
Stephanie was compelled to Worship, to sing to God about God and in His presence.
“I’m not content to just make pretty music,†Stephanie said. “When I sing I want to be one with my Father, my heavenly Father. When I draw my breath to sing, I want people to know that God is singing and speaking through me. I want to have an intimate connection with God and I want to help others experience that awesome feeling.â€
And that’s what My Everything, Stephanie’s first CD release is all about – giving her everything to God. With the songwriting support of her father and brother, songs like You Are Lord, You Are My Everything and Just Breathe invite the listener to join Stephanie in intimate worship and devotion, while songs like Sing to the Lord and I Will Praise You Lord offer up strong praise.
She has plenty to praise. Her life has truly been blessed as a mother of a beautiful baby boy – Caleb – and the wife of Evangelist and Minister Douglas Chason.
Stephanie and her husband Doug first met in church and had an immediate connection. Together the pair minister to the poor, downtrodden and the young through their Harvest America & Beyond International Ministries.
Stephanie functions as the children’s minister, working with disadvantaged children and connecting with them through music. She also utilizes puppets and games to reach children whose lives are often void of joy. As director of a program called Kingdom Kids Crusades, Stephanie’s prayer is to offer hope and impart a life guided by the Holy Spirit.
She works hard to balance her time with her family, the children’s ministry and her life on the road. Through her music she is reaching beyond the Bainbridge, Georgia community in which she and Doug are now building their ministry headquarters.
